Now being said that Beckham's discounted ownership option expires at the end of the year and he does not yet have the capital for a SSS, maybe we'll be able to avoid the historically poor sports market that is South Florida?

Miami Beckham's is going to happen. As long as he still wants to own a team (which he does), it's going to happen, he's looking at Miami. Capital, he's got plenty, his partner owner (Claure) is a billionaire and James is coming aboard. So money isn't going to be a problem. I bet it will be announced before year's end and they will start playing in 2015, along with NYCFC and Orlando (22 teams).

I'd be very surprised if it was a 2015 start, 3 teams in one year seems a bit much. Expecting Miami 2016.

By "as soon as Jan. 1" they mean "before Jan 1", option expires Dec. 31
