Awards Presentation Tonight

Regular season NHL awards presentation is tonight in Vegas (televised on VS at 6:30 CST). Chicago's spotlight will be on Duncan Keith as he is one of the three finalists for the Norris Trophy (best all-around ability as the "top" defenseman). Word is some teammates and coaches will be along with him at the award ceremony.

I expect him to win as his competition is Mike Green (the Washington Capital in the Geico hockey commercials) and Drew Doughty (Los Angels Kings). Green is an awesome offensive defenseman, but lacks a top defensive game. Doughty is a well rounded defenseman, but I don't think it's his time...yet.

It could be the first time the Hawks had a Norris Trophy winner since...

Chris Chelios won it during the 95-96 campaign.

Mike Green is out of the question. Im about 80% sure that DK will get it over Doughty. Doughty has a flashier game than DK, but overall they are about equal. Winning the cup should give DK the edge.

Duncan Keith should be a unanimous decision for the Norris this year based on his competition for it. I am not biased about it either because Mike Green is a defensive liability and while Drew Doughty is a great all around player he is still not as mistake free and flawless as Duncan Keith is in his own end.

Alexander Ovechkin has the chance to join the very elite company of only Wayne Gretzky and Bobby Orr as the only players to have won 3 consecutive Hart Memorial Trophies. Most people think Henrik Sedin will receive it but I am pulling for the Great Eight to win it.

I am also hoping Team USA Hero Ryan Miller gets the Vezina Trophy for the leagues best goaltender. I became a huge fan of his during the Olympics.

Voting takes place immediately following the regular season and the results are sealed until today, your performance in the playoffs has no effect on the results for tonight's awards.

"Duncan Keith just told us in the media work room that he forgot to thank Brent Seabrook and felt bad for that"

That's awesome; I'm sure he will thank Seabs in person as well. I'm sure he feels bad but when the music starts playing as soon as it did to cut him off he probably was a little scatter-brained .
