:office:

That won't work in the US.

Who's gonna believe that the MLS is a major league when we have teams like the Richmond Kickers?

I'd like to keep the franchise system used in all pro sports in North America (only referring to US and Canada).

:yep: That's pretty much it.

The rest of our schedule is meh.

We have shit teas like San Jose but also teams like Columbus, pretty much half the opponents are bad and half are good.

We face:
Richmond - USOC
San Jose - MLS
Guadalajara - Friendly
Chivas USA - MLS
New England - MLS
Salt Lake - MLS
Houston - MLS
Dallas - MLS
D.C. - MLS
Columbus - MLS

Bolded are teams we have to beat. Underlined are non-MLS games. Of the non-bolded teams, we have already beaten two of them.

Two of the teams marked as must-beat are actually ahead of us in standings though.

the pro/rel conversation for soccer in 'Merica is a bit old at this point. Without the infratructure and level of development we see for soccer in other countries, it couldn't work here. Hell, you have a better argument for pro/rel in baseball. Give it 100 years of actual genuine interest/investment/expansion and then we can have this conversation again.

As far as the playoffs are concerned, there's still a glimmer of hope, but I'm not going to hang my hat on it. I'll be content with the men in red putting out a respectable rest of the season and then coming to take it all next season. Should they get into the playoffs, that's cool--I just think this rebuilding year is all that it is--rebuilding and getting some of the younger guys seasoned.

Pretty much the same as the Cubs, except that we aren't quite out of it right now like the Cubs are.
