So in another thread, Rask brought up a bad business horror story.
That is a topic worth its own thread.
A year or so ago I had a petty little lack of follow through from crystal lake Chrysler jeep dodge.
Made a deal for a truck, and was not in love with the seats. I said I would but the trucking they threw in seat covers.
The finance manager was on board, said find what I wanted, buy them, and send them the bill.
The "we owe" note said they were to provide reimbursement for seat covers... With no price stipulation.
I get a decent set of covers for about 500.. And they recant- they said they meant the cheapo 45 dollar auto zone pieces of shit.
After going back and forth with them... Offering to take only half of the cost... They ducked out and refused to pay.
Karma bit them pretty hard- after the accident that totalled my truck, I of course needed a replacement. I took the front runner that I found while shopping for a weekend to try out... And drove it to that dealership.
Pulled in, told them the story and that I was torn between the truck I was in and one on their lot.
Dealt with the salesman, got the price down as low as I could, and asked for step up bars to be installed on the truck they had as part of the deal.
They said "you can have them installed and send us the bill... We will reimburse you".
My reply- the last time I bought from you, you didn't follow through- no thanks. I will take my business elsewhere."
Funny thing happened- all of a sudden they tried to reimburse me for the seat covers- my phone rang within 10 minutes of driving off the lot.
I told them to get the check ready and that I was coming back.
I walked in, met the finance guy, grabbed the check, he had a stack of paperwork for the new truck ready to go.. And I said "no thanks. I will just take what you owed me and buy elsewhere- I don't want to do business with people like you".
