I'm way too secure and alpha to be worried about what other people think of my taste, but artists I like some songs from that lesser men would be ashamed of include the Ting Tings, All Saints, Hayley Reinhart and Tears for Fears.

I also watch American Idol.

I think Nickelback is solid.

They aren't nearly as bad as people make them out to be. Most people just know the *** Nickelback songs that always play on the radio. I have several Nickelback songs on my playlist because they're actually pretty good. And when I play them in front of friends, they'll ask who the song it's by because they think it's good. I tell them, and without surprise, I hear "Wtf? You listen to Nickelback?" While completely ignoring the fact that they just said they liked the song.

I think it was a bandwagon effect. Some people started making jokes about how Nickelback is ***, it caught on, and everybody just makes fun of the band and anyone who listens to it. People who've never heard a song by them even say they suck.

I remember when 40 Year Old Virgin came out, people were making fun of everyone that listened to Coldplay. "You wanna know how I know you're ***? You listen to Coldplay." Then out of fuckin nowhere, everyone loved Coldplay and they were considered one the best modern rock bands. It's all bandwagon effect.

I think being from Canada seems to have a negative effect on the band as well. For some reason, people in America seem to like giving shit to Canadians.

Yes, I do believe in the bandwagon effect.. but there are people like me who always hated Nickleback. I honestly just can't stand his voice. The songs never did anything for me either. But thats just me. I have other friends who were "Fans" then when the hatred came they all of a sudden hated Nickleback too.

I personally don't care who likes or doesn't like what. I just find it irritating that people have to give shit to everyone if they like a certain band or certain music. I especially find it odd and funny when someone says, "You like Nickelback? That's fuckin ***." And their playlist is full of modern teen pop music.

One of my friends actually is a first class Nickelback hater, despite only hearing like 4 of their songs.... ever. And one time a while ago he posted a status on FB saying something like, "I'm man enough to admit I listen to Kelly Clarkson." So... man enough to listen to Kelly Clarkson.... anyone who listens to Nickelback is ***?

I just don't get.

But... yeah. I think Nickelback definitely has songs that royally suck. I mean, just really really bad. But they also have songs that not many people have heard that are pretty damn good imo.

I think they're the kind of band that likes making certain songs that appeal to different people. One song is soft, another is a party song, another is a harder song with edge to it, etc.

Laugh at me all you want, but MmmBop by Hanson is a catchy tune. And you gotta give those boys credit, they wrote their own songs and played their own instruments.
