So I've lived here for a few years.
Nice neighborhood.
Have a main thoroughfare between our subdivision and the next one.
Limit has been 45 forever.
They recently come in one night and make it 30.
Fair enough, I'm cool, slow it down, kids and shit.
So the wife just gets popped for 47.
250.00 bucks... not a school zone, just speeding.
She hasn't got one in a decade at least.

When did tickets get that high?
Man that has a little sting to it, a dozen 20 spots out the window.
For doing what the limit was for years.

I get she was speeding, I really do.
But man that feels greedy!
That's close to a days pay in the trash.

Oh and yea... I'm bitching a bit!

Some places 15+ over is a much bigger fine.

I just moved to South Carolina, went to register my car. $250 Infrastructure Maintenance Fee, plus in SC you have pay property tax on your car. For my 13 Sonata, $160. All told, for two licenses for me and my wife, two cars, and two registrations, about $960.

They do some of that here in AZ.
Property tax is wonderful but they get you a bit on plates.
State tax is about 4% depending on income.
I'm cool, I researched before I retired and the low property tax was the seller.
That being said I'm cool with funding my community.
But that much for a ticket kind of sucks... especially when you change the sign a couple days ago.
Then line the cops up to smoke the locals. A bit shitty.

That is a bit shitty that they didn't give her just a warning since they just changed the signs. I've never had a speeding ticket so I don't even know what would be an expensive one, but I do know that a $250 'emergency expense' would wreck some families lol. 46% of Americans couldn't cover a $400 emergency. Sad.

No such thing as a cheap tickets anymore after they're done adding taxes and their various fees and what not. It's a money grab.
