Wasn't a big fan of him at Michigan but there is always a chance he could be something special.

The Patriots liked him enough to keep him around for 2 years and they always seem to develop good backups. Wouldn't mind him as the backup or 3rd QB and LeFevour goes on the PS

In the UFL, once TC starts, they cannot leave for the NFL. He could find a way to void his deal and the Bears could sign him, but if he's just a camp arm for a few weeks and he gets cut then he has no job in the NFL of UFL.

He's a decent backup, although if he has to play then Chicago is in some serous trouble. He has a decent arm, but doesn't have the presence of mind in the pocket that a QB in the NFL needs to have, at least that's what I've noticed...

Correct, the Bears have said that Haine will be their #2 and its not up for grabs. Gutierrez will just be fighting for a roster spot as #3 with LeFevour

Apparently he has a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder, but they expect him to be back by week 1.

Hope Hanie heals fast. Yes, he is a good backup and can play well if needed.
Gutierrez may be the only "short term insurance" QB that will sign, considering he may play some exhibition reps to showcase for a team that gets desperate due to early season injuries. He will be cut by Sept 4 if Hanie is OK

I thought he was gonna be the guy until I saw his name was listing him on the Omaha team. All I say even though it'd only be preseason anyway thank JA for not signing Jamarcus Russell.

McCown signed his contract, Gutierrez didn't. Omaha owns his UFL rights though.

Like i said on scout, this whole backup thing really doesnt matter because

A)If Cutler goes down, we're screwed.
B)I don't see the Bears blowing out anyone so having a backup capable of holding a lead doesnt matter.
C)Hanie hasn't been ruled out of the season opener so we shouldn't panic
