Bears must think they're good to go with the outside pass rushers that they have

He was a big part of it but there was so much more that went into it then just having a bad DC. I know every team goes through injuries but we lost a lot of guys on defense and not just no names. We lost Peanut, L.Briggs, L.Houston, W.Young, J.Allen, C.Conte, J.Ratliff, S.McManis, D.Sharpton and DJ.Williams. That's a lot of names to lose in one season and i know some were lost for only a few games but when you keep losing guys to injuries every week that shit gets in the other players heads and there were guys that just plain quit out there on the field and you could see it, so a lot went into our defense sucking nuts the last couple of years. This new staff is gonna automatically change the culture with the Bears and just by adding this staff alone makes things better.

Hope you're right but players that quit can't be counted on in my view. The other thing is that there are no readily identifiable team leaders on the defense. Maybe Briggs gone will be a big positive but who steps in as the team defensive leader. They all have warts as far as I am concerned.

Well, part of the situation is the result of the fact that we just had a ton of needs to fill, so it wasn't going to be possible to solidify every position. I don't think anybody thinks we have a dominant group of OLB's, but it's "good enough for now". I think internal conversations would reveal a similar sentiment. Fingers crossed somebody like David Bass comes out of nowhere and gives us a boost.

Here he comes to save the day...........................That means that Corney Washington is on his way!!!!

I didn't mean to derail the thread with W.Y. Injury talk but IMO Willie will need to play and play at a high level for this defense to even be serviceable this year.

He would mean a lot if at even 90% of where he was before the injury. I don't think the defensive line is a big area of concern, it is the outside lbs and safeties that I am most concerned about.

I doubt that having W.Young on the field will change much for us. He had a pretty good year for us but he'll be coming in to play a new position for him in OLB so i don't see him being a huge factor in what we do next year.

I don't see why he can't be a force at OLB IF he is healthy. He pretty much played like an OLB last season.

Im pretty excited to see Bostic in the middle. He can hit and run he just couldn't read and react. It looks like the 3-4 Fangio is bringing over might simplify the game for Bostic.

I agree with that There is just so much to wonder about the defense of last year. Could it really be that these players were so dumb or so poorly coached. It almost seems impossible to believe to me. How could so many fucking players be in the wrong fucking spots so often. It was horrible to watch.

I do think that Bostic is a solid football player that if they can somehow put him in a spot where he should be, can hurt people. It is just too bad that Urlacher wasn't around to teach him and Briggs just decided to eat ribs and quit.

Tucker that Motherf***er. I have never seen a defense so predictable than what I saw under Tucker. The fumble that Cobb scored 2 years ago in the last game of the season showed that Tucker doesn't properly prepare his players. Good teams would go after the ball regardless if there is a whistle or not. It has led me to believe that Jack Del Rio was calling Jacksonville defense and Tucker was riding his coat tails. Emery should've been tarred and feathered for picking Tucker and DeCamillis. He was lucky that he was only fired.

Good post OP. I was surprised in the draft the Bears did not add more competition at the LB position. Although we have many different pieces at LB, I can't imagine they are happy with them. My thought is they want to see what they have this year because they are so many pieces that possibly could fit.
