BOURBONNAIS -- Running back Harvey Unga was placed on injured reserve by the Bears on Thursday, meaning he will miss the 2010 season.

Until the Bears cut down their roster to 75 players by Aug. 31, Unga will count against the current 80-man roster.

Unga, 6-feet, 237 pounds, has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since early in camp. He is a rookie out of Brigham Young.

I saw that coming as soon as they drafted him somehow just seemed not like a guy they'd use or risk loosing so they'd somehow find a way to do it, which they did.

He likely suffered a torn hamstring. Shame he couldn't contribute this season.

No, Bell and Wolfe are competing for the 3rd RB spot, and I expect Wolfe to win since he's great on ST

Likely Forte-Taylor-Wolfe-Bell(inactive)

Only having 3 active bakcs will probably allow them to activate 5 WRs (including Davis) which they'll probably do.

Not really, think of it like Henry Melton's ankle injury last season that put him on IR. It was basically a "redshirt" season for him and the Bears didn't have room to keep him on the 53 man roster. Unga will spend the year on IR and likely go through the same stuff that Melton did.

One of the worst draft picks in Bears history.

Would have preferred Michael Bush, who was still on the board.

Can't remember either, but I don't think the Bears had a need at RB to use a third rounder.

He's carved out a niche on ST, and the backups have to play ST to be active on gameday and make the roster.

Michael Okwo was worse than Baziun, who that's a false lie that he was a 5th round projection, He was a 3rd rounder and would of been much higher had he not had knee injuries. He was taken 31st in the second round but got hurt badly in camp.. Okwo just wasn't NFL caliber.

BTW the Bears did need a RB. That was after the Super Bowl after they traded away bitchy I refuse to be sharing carries and paid less for it TJ(Who has complained his way off of 3/4 different teams in his career) Benson wasn't an able 3rd down back and that's why they drafted Wolfe.

If you think he has no chance to ever contribute on the field your just ignorant, it's not all likely but Jermome Harrison this season who had pretty lackluster 3 years turned into a stud on the field as a once claimedonly little 3rd down back.

Garrett Wolfe is like 5'2 without good speed and an inability to break tackles.

It really does not matter. He was not going to make team and an injury like this always occur.
