Dom should have gotten it, and if you read the article, according to coaches and front office technical staff around the league, he did win it. It was the player and media vote that was swayed to give it to Beckham.
I would ask the regulatory committee (although, that's a joke as there isn't one) why a player who was not injured and who was here for the season won an award for 'comeback' player of the year.....how is that even possible?
As noted on the memo line of the check, Dom has already committed that 1k to nothing but nets. A great organisation with a fantastic goal that is saving live in a very real way.
Sadly, normally our POTY contribution is about 2k-2,500, but this year it was reduced as our overall contribution to the Fire Foundation increased to almost $20,000 by the end of the year.
It's a fantastic achievement we are all very proud of as it is almost double what we gave last year and almost 3-4 times what we gave just 2 years ago. I cannot honestly describe how good it feels to be able to be a part of a community that is able to give well--even in down economic times. And I know for a fact that most of those who have contributed are not rich people themselves. Fellow man helping another man.
I bet Becks actually has given away a ton of money to charity. He has kids and he loves'em--not in the Michael Jackson way. So I'm pretty sure he's given his share.
