I wouldn't take any of those three over the three I mentioned

We've got multiple guys that can close, pitch 7 or 8. Loads of flexibility

I'd take ours defensively. I think we take them at 1 and 2. Tie at worst at SS and lose slightly at 3b

I disagree about 2B and 3B. I am willing to give you a slight edge at SS and a clear edge at 1B, but Beltre and Kinsler are pretty elite level defenders.

Might those Texas numbers change when the dry summer heat comes rolling in and dries the hell out of that infield making it crazy fast?

Silly me. I assumed the discussion was how good Texas's defensive infield was.

We are. I was asking what numbers are you talking about, e.g. fielding percentage, UZR, etc? Defensive numbers at this point in the season really don't mean much. I was looking at the numbers from 2011 since each team has the same players each year. That said I don't particularly think any statistic is that great in measuring defensive ability which is why I won't argue that strenously one way or the other because the numbers that are available to us are shaky at best.

I don't disagree. Defensive numbers don't mean much at any point in the season and whatever numbers anyone likes will probably be skewed for them because of the grounds.

Stoney and Levine and Hubner have Beckham as the best fielding 2b man. Kinsler I think is well behind the elite defenders

Not sure how a bullpen discussion turned into a defensive infield discussion, but here are the numbers.

Morel is tough to gague because he's only had one season under his belt. But, in 126 games, he had a UZR/150 of 1.0 in 2011. Beltre from 2011 to 2009 had a UZR150, respectively, of: 17, 12.7, 21.2 (2009).

In the past three years, 2011 to 2009, Alexei has a UZR150 of: 11.4, 10.1, 3.2. Elvis: 6.9, 0.3, 13.5.

Beckham: 4.8 (2011), -1.2 (2010); Kinsler: 16.2 (2011), 4.1 (2010, only 103 games), 10.2 (2009)

PK: -1.1 (2011), -14.7 (2010), 2.1 (2009); Moreland: -20.7 (2011), -14.6 (2010).

So, from a glance, it appears as of 2011 PK is the better 1B, Kinsler the better 2B, Alexei the better SS, and Beltre the better 3B.

Obviously, this is just a snapshot of past years and not a measure of who you'd rather have going forward or anything.
