My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  2. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Chicago State Cougars
  2. DePaul Blue Demons
  3. Illinois-Chicago Flames
  4. Loyola Ramblers
  5. Northern Illinois Huskies
  6. Northwestern Wildcats
List of teams and records/places (bolded made playoffs):
1998 Chicago Fire - 20-12 - 56 Points - Second Seed in Western Conference - MLS Cup Champions
1998 Miami Fusion FC - 15-17 - 35 Points - Fourth Seed in Eastern Conference - Lost Conference Semifinals
2005 Real Salt Lake - 5-22-5 - 20 Points - Fifth Seed in Western Conference
2005 C.D. Chivas USA - 4-22-6 - 18 Points - Sixth Seed in Western Conference
2006 Houston Dynamo - 11-8-13 - 46 Points - Second Seed in Western Conference - MLS Cup Champions
2007 Toronto FC - 6-17-7 - 30 Points - Seventh Seed in Eastern Conference
2008 San Jose Earthquakes - 8-13-9 - 33 Points - Seventh Seed in Western Conference
2009 Seattle Sounders FC - 12-7-11 - 47 Points - Third Seed in Western Conference - Lost Conference Semifinals
2010 Philadelphia Union - 8-15-7 - 31 Points - Seventh Seed in Eastern Conference
2011 Portland Timbers - 11-14-9 - 42 Points - Sixth Seed in Western Conference
2011 Vancouver Whitecaps FC - 6-18-10 - 28 Points - Ninth Seed in Western Conference
2012 Montreal Impact - 12-16-6 - 42 Points - Seventh Seed in Eastern Conference

The Dynamo and Eartquakes expansion statuses are obviously subjective, as Houston was pretty much the old Quakes relocating but they did that whole suspending operations and rewarding players to expansion thing that happened with the Cleveland Browns.

Top Three have to Fire, Dynamo, and Sounders to me though, after that it gets sketchy

Well, so did Houston. When the league was much better than when we did in 1998. We can argue the illegitimacy of their status of an expansion team, but since they are one, they were still clearly better than Seattle IMHO.

Houston wasn't an expansion team, they were relocated from San Jose.

In concept, they were. However, officially the league suspended the San Jose franchise, established an expansion team in Houston, and moved personnel to the new team. It was mostly done this way to guarantee San Jose fans that they would be back and to preserve the history there. Technicality.

All the same player from 2005 San Jose roster to 2006 Houston roster, that's not an expansion team.

Pretty much what I expected the consensus to be.

And firefan, only listed them because that is how the league recognizes them. And this thread is inspired by Montreal's respectable performance in case anyone was wondering.
