Okay, so I was pretty much deployed somewhere or in combat throughout the entire GameCube era, and everyone I knew were basically Halo and SOCOM addicts. I never owned a GameCube and missed the whole deal. I played a few games, like Pikmin and Super Mario Sunshine. I heard that Resident Evil on GC was the best, but TBH, Resident Evil games didn't really age too well, and I'm not too interested at this point.

Help me fill in the gap here. I know the GC was successful while still fairly disappointing, so what do I need to get into before it's too late? Stuff I can't really get anywhere but the GC. Like the Dreamcast is LOADED with unique and exclusive titles. But the PS2 and XB1 shared a lot of titles with the GC, and other than Resident Evil 4, I have read that the GC versions are inferior anyways.

You can get Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes on GC only. It's a remake of Metal Gear Solid 1. I haven't ever played it, but I hear it's a pretty lackluster remake. They added a lot of stuff that isn't true to the original, like Snake doing weird acrobatic shit you'd see Raiden doing.

Then you got the mainstream games like Mario Kart Double Dash and Super Smash Bros. Melee. Two games that some fans think are still the best in their respective series.

Yeah, I have the original MGS1. Other than typical Nintendo exclusives, I can't seem to find a lot of value in the GC.

I'll try Sonic Adventure DX, and I guess I can't avoid Resident Evil 4. I'll give it a whirl. Maybe I'll be surprised. It's hard to read through the bias to get information, as most people who make claims are extremely biased, maybe because the GC was the only system they had at for the generation.

Everyone I know that plays Gamecube nowadays just does so for Super Smash Bros Melee. Not sure if you're into that stuff though...

Super Mario Sunshine and other...Mario games I guess were also popular. Paper Mario is a good one.

All that were recommended so far were good. I'll add Star Wars Rogue Squadron, Luigi's Mansion, and Metroid.

Zelda, Donkey Kong, and Star Fox were all big let downs though. Avoid those GC games.

So far, Pikmin and Sunshine are the best games I have played on GameCube. Even though Sunshine is a slight disappointment from 64 and Galaxy, it's still really awesome.

Zelda Wind Walker is pretty good just from checking it out via emulator, Twilight Princess did suck.

Phantasy Star Universe, I have the whole kit for PS2. It is a good game, IMO the best console MMO ever. I'm going to be seriously tempted to play PSO2 when it's released.

I always defend the GameCube, as I'm a huge Nintendo homer. Much like the Dreamcast, there were TONS of excellent GC-exclusive games or games that were originally released on the GC that got ported to the PS2 or XBox. Here's a list of some of mine --

Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean -- Gorgeous graphics, cool story and a unique card-based battle system.

Battalion Wars -- If you're a fan of the Advanced Wars series that was on the GameBoy/DS, this is a must play. Essentially the same thing, but from a third-person perspective. A nice combination of action and real-time strategy

Custom Robo -- As the title suggest, the customization is awesome. Over 1,000 parts to customize robots and fight them in various arenas. Part strategy game, part action game, part RPG. It's kind of like a different spin on the Armored Core series, but with a much better story line.

Killer7 -- This is one of my favorite games of all-time. Absolutely brutal gameplay, wonderful presentation, and one of the most memorable stories I've ever experienced in a video game. The characters and dialogue are perfect. This game is on my list of "10 games I recommend to anyone"

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door -- Quirky, fun, excellent action, cool cel-shaded graphics.

Viewtiful Joe -- Slick, sick, awesome, titties, etc. Excellent action, a hybrid 2D/3D side-scrolling beat 'em up game. The PS2 versions sucked.

Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echos -- I mean, they're Metroid games.... the first one, in particular, should go down as one of the greatest games ever. Just phenomenal from start to finish.

Beyond Good and Evil -- Think TLoZ series, only not with some shitty, convoluted storyline at the backbone.

Animal Crossing -- Judge me all you want, but this shit rules.

F-Zero GX -- The hardest racing game ever, but for its time, the graphics were top-notch. Great controls, awesome soundtrack and great diversity to the tracks.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem -- The ability to control up to 12 different characters. Sensory overload. One of the coolest, most unique gaming experiences out there.

And you already mentioned Smash Brothers Melee, the Zelda games (yawn) and Mario Sunshine.
