I have no problem with Long John Silver's, except for two things:

1. The price (it is quite expensive), and
2. The distance from me (nearest one is in Matteson).

Fishdaddy's is pretty good imo

also there's a place called Sanitary Restaurant(and Fish Market)....don't know if it's a common chain anywhere else but I ate at one in Morehead City, NC...awesome

there are actually a couple in Houston that are pretty good as well

Seafood is tricky to me, because the best lobster/crap places are usually not the best fish places, and you can find places that make shrimp off the charts good, but aren't the best when it comes to everything else. The same applies to clams and oysters. Not to mention sushi! A bad sushi dive is all someone needs to hate seafood all together for the rest of their life!

And what's up with Chicago having almost no freshwater fish exclusive spots? It seems like you gotta catch it, if you want to eat it when it come's to some of the best fish period, like walleye and smelts.

I do admit, I'll go to Red Lobster if I don't want to make it at home. Haven't had Bob Chinn's, and TBH I'm afraid of most seafood places for the simple fact, that we are so far from actual sea. I did have great seafood when I lived in Hawaii and traveled to Alaska. I don't remember the spots, because good seafood when you're by an ocean is dime-a-dozen.

A connoisseur, I like it. Bob Chinn's and Red Lobster are large enough so that they can expedite the delivery of fresh crab and lobster. I agree 100% that those places aren't the best for fish. There are some good sushi places but you're right again in that you have to be pretty selective.

When I think of Chicago food the last thing that comes to mind is seafood. The best place I've been for seafood is Maine. I would love to go to Japan someday and eat Puffer Fish. I know there are some chefs' in the states that claim they can cook it but I wouldn't trust my life with them.
