Way to long too cut and paste but solid takes.

The Chicago Bears lost their news conference — and it was a blowout. Brad Biggs’ 10 thoughts after the team’s brass addressed the franchise’s future.

1. This was an unwinnable news conference for the Bears.

2. It was baffling that Ted Phillips and Ryan Pace refused to clarify how long the general manager’s contract runs.

3. What is the team going to do at quarterback?

4. The Bears are going to be aggressive in efforts to get back to winning in 2021.

5. Matt Nagy has to go into the bunker with his offensive coaches and the scouting staff and begin formulating a plan for a quarterback.

6. Matt Nagy said he is in the process of meeting with his staff, and any moves the coach is going to make likely will surface quickly.

7. The contract situation with receiver Allen Robinson will be very interesting to watch.

8. The offensive line is going to be a huge focus for Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy too.

9. Ryan Pace said he doesn’t envision any players requiring ‘major surgery.’

10. When I said this was a news conference the Bears could not win, I want to reiterate that words could not make up for the disappointment of the season.

why would Robinson even stay here? Pace could have extended him but instead gave money to Quinn and Foles.

Since 2017...

Glennon $45m
Trubisky 1st, 3rd, 3rd, 4th & $29m

Add in Nagy...

Daniel $10m
Foles 4th & $24m

Have faith guys. Surely the next one will understand Nagys complex scheme.

They could tag he just to receive compensation......the quarterback situation is what Robinson should be monitoring.

I keep reading this was an unwinable press conference and I don't buy it. Bears fans just want to be spoken to honestly without the BS. To me at least, all I really needed to hear from George was some verion of:

"We fucked up. We know the QB situation is fucked up. We know the play calling was fucked up. We know the Oline was fucked up. We're going to do some specific things to improve those areas...... no we can't name those specifics because we don't want to let the competition know. We kept Ryan because he's turned the defense around and has produced some good picks. (list said picks) That being said he needs to better or we'll find a new GM. We kept Matt because the players play hard for him and he's willing to put his ego aside and find a play calling solution that works. Again.... we fucked up. We know 8-8 isn't acceptable. We know we need better QB play. If Ryan and Matt can't do it sooner than later we're getting new people who can."

Something like that I think would have worked for most people. They may not be happy. They may prefer firing them but George would buy some time with that.

And lastly Ted wouldn't have been on that call or mentioned at all. Fuck that piece of shit.

I know Pace's contract was a hot topic yesterday - most people are assuming he has one year left.

Coming from the McCaskey's angle though, wouldn't it make sense to extend him for 1 more year? Gives Pace a little breathing room and for the McCaskey's would help make sure that Pace doesn't go all scorched earth Bill O'Brien style and completely wreck the roster/draft capital in desperation. And in the back of the McCaskey's mind, say 2021 goes terrible for Pace/Nagy, maybe they are more comfortable eating his contract with one year left at the end of 2021 with more revenue than they had in 2020.

Yeah this echoes my thoughts. They could've been more accountable, could've been more forthright. It felt so PR-focused that it lost any meaning. I cannot stand when people tell me they are feeling an emotion but do not show it with body language or speech. You'd think if they were so fired up we would've felt that without having to be told (repeatedly) that's how they were feeling.

Then again I dont care about winning press conferences or whatever. Its meaningless.
