Bill Simmons tweeted the following today:

"@sportsguy33 Fake NBA trade: Noah, Deng + a top-7 protected 2010 No. 1 pick for Bosh. Which team says no?"

Would you do this?

No! I'd rather just get him in free agency!

I don't think a Bulls team minus Noah and Deng would be able to resign Bosh. Noah is going to be very important if the Bulls are going to have a shot at signing Bosh or Amare. He doesn't need plays called for him, and he'll allow either Bosh or Amare to dominate the strong side of the court.

I can't believe anyone says no to this. With Deng's contract gone, rose, and bosh's bird rights we become the number one destination for bron or wade. Not only is this a yes, its a hell yes. This is definitely selling at their highest. I would somewhat try to keep Noah but I'd let him go if we had to. It also would become imperative to make sure asik comes over in 2010.

Well I am not a Bosh guy personally. I put him in the "settle for" section...with Joe Johnson. He plays soft sometimes and that is a problem for me. But I would rather get him in FA...

It's not tampering is Rose says to Lebron/Wade "Hey, what do you think of the idea of playing with me and Bosh" right? Because that would be my condition of doing the deal ... having a fair idea that it would entice LeBron/Wade. If so do the deal, dump Kirk for an expiring (probably required to have the cap space), sign our second star and some vets in the offseason and play for the chip.

Its not tampering, there was an article how wade and bron talked about playing together in Miami. You wouldn't have to say much either, both of those guys have definitely taken notice of Rose and Bosh. And it would certainly intice them. You also wouldn't have to necessarily trade kirk if Salmons opted out or if the cap doesn't go down much.

I think if Bosh doesn't opt out and instead signs an extension then we'd be paying over 1 million more for Bosh than Deng/Noah/Pick. Given we may need to make a move to have max space even before this trade if the cap falls enough, I'd not want to risk keeping Kirk.

Regardless, moving Kirk is not a deal breaker, maybe Portland would still do kirk for blake and outlaw now that they have miller and webster is healthy.

You take away Noah & Deng, you take away this team's defense, which I think we all can agree is the reason we are in every single game. I'd love having Bosh, but he's leaving Toronto anyway, there's no need to trade away the anchors of our defense when we could just sign the guy in the offseason.

The point of trading isn't to get Bosh, the point is to get LeBron or Wade as well. As I said, you'd have Rose have a quiet word to those two and try to gauge interest, and if it doesn't look like it's happening, then you don't make the trade.

If we stink for the rest of the year with no defense even better. Remember our pick in the hypothetical trade was top 7 protected ...

Defense is nice but when you can turn deng and noah into two stars, you do it. You are forgetting that on the back end you are getting another star in the summer. Rose and Bosh will get you bron, wade or JJ to make you a contender. Plus you also have asik waiting in the wings.

With Rose and Bosh, we won't stink the rest of the year. We will be a playoff team. Losing noah hurts but you will get a second star in the summer, it might not be a bron or a wade but a jj is fine when you have two other stars. Deng and Noah were more than a pf away from a title. You also need to score more than 90ppg to compete for a ring.

You are willing to trade Deng and Noah for Bosh and a star (you figure) in the summer. But you don't understand letting BG go to get a star next summer. What???

With keeping Deng we were limited to only one star. In this scenario we get two stars. Furthermore, with bosh and rose on board our chances of grabbing an elite star increases as we would become the best destination and have room for three stars on the same team. Bottom line is, I don't think Rose, star, deng and noah is a contender. rose, Bosh, star and asik if he is decent is. If your going to go for a home run go for it, not half assed. With our current roster, we aren't even guaranteed max cap space to sign a star.

You seriously don't think Rose, Deng, Noah and LeBron are a contender? LeBron just won 66 games with Ilgauskas, Williams and Varejao as the next 3 players. Any team that gets LeBron without completely gutting itself is a contender.

Ok...just found that interesting, willing to ship off 2 decent players for a chance at 2 stars but don't understand the chance of letting 1 decent player go for 1 star....gotta start somewhere...

But thats not how it works. Great players wanna play with each other. Not by themselves, otherwise Bron, Wade and Bosh would have signed extensions this summer. If your going to do it, you might as well not do it half assed.
