Finished it last night.... a bit weird to do "episodes" that are only like 15-20 mins long.
The way they tell a story on this show is odd, but thus far I enjoyed it.
I've always wanted to see a show explore the true opening of a zombie apocalypse and not jump to the middle.
Thus far that's what Black Summer is doing, but who knows, if they get a second season they might jump ahead.
The lack of dialogue, as an obfuscation tool, is different.... but in some cases it was just strange.
Like the dude with the dog who opens the door for Rose/Spears at the school.... never says a word, and they don't even try to speak to him one time.
I would think nothing of a silent character, but Rose/Spears never even try to be like "Omg thank u"... kinda odd.
However, the show set the ground rules in the pilot, they mostly tell you a story via actions, not words and they were consistent in the oddities in their storytelling/obfuscation, so I just went with it.
I hope they proceed with this show and just consider it detached from Z Nation.... I know they are calling it a prequel, but they should definitely not steer anywhere near Z Nation territory, these are two very different shows.
