Meh, I need to know what role he'll play before I care about this signing at all.

Should be our 2nd line center. I can see 4th line but he has a playmaking touch that suites the 2nd line

you can move bolland up. i dont think he is the 2nd line center after the deadline. IMO it is a depth move more than anything else.

Morrison is a center. Bickell is a garbage ass winger. Nice try.

All he is trying to say is that there is no more room for bickell. When you are looking at the bottom lines guys become interchangeable with one exception most of the time and that being the 3rd line center. So for the most part you will see less of Bickell IMHO.

That was my initial thought too, then C. Romuleitus (don't know how to spell it lol) said it solves the problem at center which left my head scratching.

I understand now, I misinterpreted what he said. I usually don't expect a semi-logical thought when reading his posts.

goodbye Bickell!

Wishful thinking. I wonder what return might even be considered an adequate return at this point for him. There is a shit ton of forwards on the roster atm and two more coming back soon. If a roster forward or two isn't flipped for a D, then Smith and Hayes will surely find themselves back in the A before Bickell is waived.

As for the trade, I'm a wee bit concerned about him being the answer to our second line C question. As pointed out, guy cannot remain healthy and because of the injuries, he is a comparable skater to Bruno. I'm leaning towards no, but as Hog said, he does have some play making ability and his wings (Hoss and Sharp) just may be able to raise his game to an adequate level.

Kinda confused on this one.

I don't see Morrison being a worthy 2nd line center on the Hawks, unless he magically loses 10 years of age in this trade.

But I don't think the Hawks need a 3rd or 4th line center. Bolland and Mayers, respectively, have been filling in those roles rather well. And should the Hawks make another move for an actual 2nd line center, then I imagine Kruger would get dumped back to the 4th line.

That being said, seems like it's not a big risk if it doesn't work out. Everything I've read says that Connolly had fallen behind plenty of other guys on the Hawks defensive depth chart.

I'm thinking that this is just so the Hawks actually have enough centers to have a team at the moment.

He admitted today what many of us suspected about his injury last season: the infamous chirper is no longer on the team.

Its a depth move really. Nothing to get excited about, but you can never have too many centers.

Heard someone say on twitter (I forgot who) that this deal also involved Sarich coming to Chicago, but it fell apart and the Hawks wanted to atleast get Morrison
