There should be more of this going on. Jake Dowell and Bobby Hull, I'm sure, both feel honored that they could help these kids.

My 8 year old neice had a rare form of leukemia and was a Make A Wish participant. What a first class organization. I spent quite a bit of time for over a year visiting Children's Memorial cancer ward and saw quite a few of famous people vist the sick kids that you never hear about. Boy, what a class move by Jake to visit the boy at his house.....It was VERY touching to see the little boy's reaction when he was holding Jake's finger. That will be one of the nicer memories for the family to hold on to sometime in the future.

There could not be a better Hawk to take part in this. I have met and talked with Jakes family, including his Father several times. His Mother may be one of the strongest people I have ever met having to endure and survive the chance of losing not only her husband, but also like these folks, one of her children.

Thank you Jake for showing us all why the NHL stands above and beyond the rest of professional sports! I will always be a Dowell fan!

It's not just a chance, RK. I can't imagine the intestinal fortitude it takes to care for her husband and son; I tip my hat to Mrs. Dowell.

My eyes watered up a bit at work. Sure this stuff gets a bit cliche a bit, but I truly think that what sets the NHL apart is they do this without the camera's.

I believe Eddie mentioned on the telecast tonight that this little warrior lost his battle recently. My condolences to the family.

RIP little guy, I bet every goal Jake Dowell scores from now on will be dedicated to him.

I heard Eddie say that as well... very sad in deed. My condolences to the family as well.

So sad. My heart goes out to the little boy's family. No parent should have to go through this.
