The NHL needs a big-time TV deal like what the NBA has.

That will truly help. Fewer/better located teams would help as well.

Just because I know certain people are going to rush into this thread calling Rocky another Bill Wirtz because he is raising ticket prices 20%...

We live in Chicago, we have far higher cost of living / cost of operating expenses than most NHL franchise cities. We also have higher wages than the smaller markets charging more for tickets. We should be in the top 5-10 as far as ticket prices go just looking at the economics of it.

Rocky also said that being in the Red will in no way effect their determination to put the best team on the ice every year and will work the hard way to become profitable over time. That is music to my ears.

Also support the Blackhawks by buying your beer from operations supplied by Wirtz beverages!!!!

It's hard to fathom how the Hawks can be in the red with all the money they must've generated during they're Cup run. A bunch of extra home playoff games and a plethora of people buying Hawks apparel, yet still in the red.

I blame the lockout.

They explain it all there, they are in the red for good reasons, but it shows commitment and hard commitment on all fronts that got them the cup. They took everything seriously with leaving no expense and issue because they knew what they could do and it just will take time from a team making nothing to make up it's spending on top notch quality and a front office full of people doing their individual jobs well to make everything efficient.

They don't get all the money from playoff games as it states. If not for the lockout there would be no cap and they would never have won or somehow had they won they'd be in worse debt.
