If you haven't heard our second child is on the way. We're having a blackhawks mural painted in her room. The theme of the mural will be similar to US Celluar/White Sox one I had done for my other daugther. It will basically be childhood characters from nursery rhymes, cartoons, comics, etc. representing the players. In the one for the White Sox the characters didn't represent any of the players. In this one I want the characters to somehow represent the players from the team last season. They'll be playing against the Flyers in the mural. There's only going to be enough room for around 11 players per side and 1 coach per side. (5 skaters, 1 goalie, 5 on the bench and the coach). I was hoping you guys might be able to come up with some ideas. The representation can be from looks, on ice characteristics, or off ice characteristics.

Below is some of the ideas I have so far. Feel free to add your own suggestions as well and fill in the ones I have blank with suggestions.

Kane = Roadrunner

Toews = Superman

Hossa = He-Man

Sharp =

Versteeg = Vanity Smurf

Buff = Cookie Monster, Snuffalufagus

Coach Q = Gepetto

Keith = Toothless (from How to train your dragon)

Seabrook = Count Von Count (sesame street)

Sopel = Shrek

Burish = Alvin (Alvin and the chipmunks). No, I'm not doing Qaugmire

Ladd =

Niemi =

Hjalmarsson = Swedish Chef (muppets)

Campbell =

Brouwer =

Madden =

Eager =

Kopecky =

Bolland =

Fraser =

Flyers (feel free to start adding female characters on this side)

Laviolette =

Pronger = Hamburgler

Carcillo = Wile E. Coyotoe

Hartnell =

Richards =

Carter =

Giroux =

Lieno =

Brierre =

Carle =

Gagne =

Leighton =

Timonen =

Asham =

van Reimsdyk =

Coburn =

Krajicek =

Powe =

La Parriere =

Betts =

For those that didn't see the White Sox one, here's the example.

Also, feel free to give ideas for advertisements on the boards.

Hossa should be Batman so Kopy can be Robin.
<

Maybe Sharpie can be The Tick? Or Johnny Bravo?

Ladd.... hmmm.. are there any lumberjack cartoons?

Niemi I've always called marshallow, so I'd go with the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Or the obvious Nemo..

Madden I've always seen as a bulldog. Not sure which cartoon it's from, but there's a bulldog with a little hat in it.

Campbell and Fras can fight over which one wants to be Ronald McDonald..

Bolland... hmm.. Die Fledermaus from The Tick?

I like several of those suggestions.

Was thinking one of the flyers should be Ralph Wiggum. Not sure which one though.

As for Niemi as Stay Puft, only problem with that is that he's an evil character in the movie. I thought about Nemo, but a fish as a goalie doesn't really work.

Had a thought- Isn't one of the Thundercats a ginger? That could be another option for Campbell.

I forgot about the Stay Puft guy being a "baddie." Oops.. Maybe he could be Yogi or Hong Kong Phooey or Optimus Prime instead.

Not sure who they could apply to, but you could have Space Ghost and the Pink Panther somewhere too. You could probably work in a Voltron lion and some of the X-Men, too.

OH OH OH OH! Captain Caveman for Eager!

That wasn't the one I had in mind, Tater, but that's pretty awesome!

I like this idea

Laviolette= Pepe LePew ... a french skunk - Warner Bros

Pronger = a big ape... the only cartoon character that comes to mind is Magilla Goriilla (could be a better choice for an ape I'm drawing a blank)

Black Jack Shellac (spellings vary). Though he played antagonist to Bugs Bunny. Maybe Paul Bunyan?

For Niemi, Gumby. It might be easier to do that one in the style of Eddie Murphy playing Gumby.

Do reconsider Quagmire as Burish. The resemblance is uncanny, and that would be one for the grown-ups.

since this will be in my daughters room there's no way Quagmire will be in there. It would be disturbing on so many levels.

I should probably start picking guys to eliminate since I can't fit the whole team in there, which is a little unfortunate.

It was also suggested by a friend that maybe Pronger should be the Joker.

Gagne = Olive Oyl (Popeye) ??? ... She always seems to get caught and always has to be saved by Popeye.... kinda like his injury-prone career.
<

Leighton = She-Ra? I know its a bad resemblance but hear me out.... We know who She-ra is and yet, for being someone that was supposed to empower little girls everywhere back in the 80s, even now after all this time, she's making a comeback, even for nerds, and everyone remembers her now.... And of course, we all know how Leighton did during the playoffs that year...

Leighton is the same way. I remember him for years, and even though he didn't win with the Flyers, people are happy he was around, cause well... who else would be goaltending? Sad part is, he's playing in the AHL and forget about him.... almost like how She-Ra wasn't remembered for about 15 years or was it that some people didn't want to remember those days? .... heh...

Personally I think Sharpie should be Pepe LePew. He isn't inherently evil, save for the date raping aspect of his character, and let's fave it, Pepe is a ladies man.

Lieghton could be the Prodigal Son.

I'm confused... do you want your daughter to like the Flyers? Or to hate women?

LOL just teasing... very creative idea and congrats!

Eager reminds me of scrappy doo.

And I see Richards as a jafar.

And this panting idea reminds me of what John Wayne Gacy used to do. He painted a few cubs pictures with the 7 dwarfs playing on the field. Disney called him up while in prison and asked him to top giving them bad PR.

Seriously? That's creepy considering I have the 7 dwarfs in my Sox mural.

Edit: I found the painting.

Yeah, but you're 1000% the anti-Gacy so your 7 dwarfs are harmless Disney shoutouts of cuteness. Figures that sick **** was a Cubs fan.
