The Chicago Blackhawks have signed goalie prospect Alexander Salak to a two-year deal worth about $600,000 per year, according to a source familiar with the situation.
The Blackhawks have yet to make an official announcement regarding the deal.

Salak, 24, was acquired in a trade with the Florida Panthers in February for Jack Skille and other prospects. The Hawks also acquired Michael Frolik in the trade.

One way deal, so pretty sure he will be our backup or Bowman will have to eat his salary...

600k for a backup is GREAT news for a team with limited cap space..

save 700k over last years backup (Turco @ 1.3 mil)

While, at face, yes you're right...

But, dig a touch deeper and we had a cap hit of 2.1 on our combined goaltending this past season.

Our cap hit will be 3.267 on our combined goaltending this season. That's a 1.167 increase.

Compared to when Khabby & Huet were here, no reason to complain.
