Caps could deal Semin

Alexander Semin | Capitals
UPDATE: Steve MacFarlane of the
Calgary Sun suggests the
Calgary Flames could be more than a little interested in making a deal for
Alexander Semin. Flames general manager Jay Feaster is on the hunt for another talented forward and reportedly wants to add one before the summer is up. A deal with the
Washington Capitals for Semin would certainly check off that box.
And unlike other organizations, the Flames could justify ponying up the $6.7 million (cap hit: $6 million) Semin is owed next season. Feaster and Co. are under immense pressure to win -- NOW. With only a year left on his contract before becoming an unrestricted free agent, Semin might suit the Flames' immediate needs well.

Ed Tait of the
Winnipeg Free Press suggests the
Washington Capitals are looking to move forward
Alexander Semin.
Tait adds that the
Montreal Canadiens,
Nashville Predators,
Philadelphia Flyers,
Pittsburgh Penguins,
San Jose Sharks and
Toronto Maple Leafs are all said to be interested in Semin.
There has also been chatter that a potential deal for the winger could involve defenseman
Zach Bogosian of the
Winnipeg Jets.
