Luongo would definitely be an upgrade but a team like the Blackhawks would have to be careful because of the salary cap ramifications. A team can now eat up to 50% of the cap hit/salary in a trade, but I find it highly unlikely that the Canucks will eat that much (or anywhere near that) and do it for another 10 years. The Canucks are currently only 900k under THIS year's salary cap, which means they are going to have some maneuvering to do next year. It would be even more difficult for them if they have to pay for Luongo not being on their team.
I was all for Luongo when the cap was at $70mil but with it going down to $64mil, I just don't see a way it would work out for the Canucks or the Blackhawks. Could happen, but it would take a lot of cooperation from the Canucks.
