Yeah, those are the exact two that come to mind, which should be obvious as on was the rivalry that always was, and the other was the old rivalry that is back anew. It's a very competitive fun division.

The St. Louis Blues take all of the hatred I had for just about every other team in the NHL and allow me to direct it at one obnoxious, under-achieving franchise.

I definitely miss Detroit. Not from a hatred standpoint, but from a fan of the rivalry. That was such a legendary rivalry and the fans and teams still hate each other, which speaks volumes as to how deep that rivalry goes.

It was great for the game

Honesty it doesn't ring that way to me as much because of my age. Except for a few overlapping year they always seemed good when we were bad and then vise versa. That doesn't make for a lot of meaningful games outside of the playoffs of course. Which I don't even know how often they met in the last 20 years? But I do think it's special in that we have a rival across all sports with that city unlike no other. The argument could be made for Minnesota too but they just suck at everything.

To me, the 'Hawks - 'Wings rivalry was far more 'Hawks fans induced than anything else. Blues, Northstars, and even Maple Leafs were larger and real rivalries in the ol' Norris and Pre-East\West days. After the Leafs moved east and the Northstars to Texas it was only the Blues and the 'Hawks fans just made a rivalry with the Wings.

Nah it'd be more interesting if we opened the pre-season against the Toronto Blue Jays or the Detroit Lions. Then it'd be interesting other than that who fucking cares about pre-season.
