On your side note, I cannot fucking stand it now when I go to read something and its audio/video with a blurb.

I remember when I started reading and people bitched/moaned/complained about how reading sucks and "just watch the movie".

My entire life has been my peers preferring cliff notes over substance.

An entire generation of fuckwits with the attention span and reading comprehension of dogs.

Unfortunately I experience the same headache anywhere I consume news, so I cannot offer you a better recommendation.

Also, I aint buying any of their overpriced shit until the team is actually good.

Bandwagon is a market mechanism used by fans to say "I'll pay for it when you do your fucking job and build a winning team."

Every single fan should be a Bandwagon fan, punish your team financially when they don't perform well.

Stop rewarding mediocrity/failure in the city of Chicago, whether that's Blackhawks, Bears, Bulls, Cubs, White Sox, etc.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
This isn't an improvement based on the idea of rebuilding, this is purely a response to ticket sales (or lack thereof.) I got a season ticket in 2008 when the full season ticket base was shit, and got a 9 game package. All nine games were regular season games, and the opponents and game days were good; maybe 3 of the 9 were weird weeknights or shitty teams. I had 4 tickets in the 7th row, which was in the middle pricing tier of the 300 level.

Once they won the cup, the first game being a preseason was introduced. Then the pricing became not only based on location, but based on the "type" of game..."premium" opponents and dates, mid tier, and shit tier...so you got a preseason and 2 premium, 3 mid tier, and 3 shit tier.

Prices went up each year, but the team was winning, and the joint was sold to the roof. By the 2016, I was paying the same for 2 seats in the 13th row, part of the least expensive pricing level in the 300, as I was for the 4 seats in 2008.

Hawks are not the hottest ticket in town anymore. Putting less restriction on the way people can choose to buy tickets is a must...a seat sold a little cheaper is better than a seat unsold.

I'm old, and I miss my daily newspapers. I guess it's on me to adapt, but I just tune out when someone tells me to "listen to that podcast," or sends me a YouTube link.

I just want to read to get the information, but the masses indeed seem to want their soundbite summary.

Meh, disagree there. You can still follow the team and be invested in the team/sport without supporting said team financially.

I don’t mind podcasts because I work out a lot and listening to sports talk while grinding out gains makes the work out fun.

Problem is, most podcasts are trash, especially those that cover the Blackhawks.

People just need to grow up. I understand the fanatic part when one is young. As you grow older your time and money should be worth more than watching shit. I’m not watching the bears next season it’s just not worth my time. I fell asleep during most games last season

I'm also old~~really old, 83.
I remember the smell of the newspaper and picking it up at the news stand on Cermak & Oak Park for 15c.
I loved the comics which were REAL comics before all the goddamn dogooders censored everything.
I worked at the Herald American on Wacker as a copy boy~a shitty job where everyone gave up shit all the time.
I don't listen to podcasts and other shit either.
And I am tired of those who do the pregame shows and are afraid that, if they tell the truth, they'll get fired.

Don't know where you live but I still get the paper delivered daily (I'm in the burbs).....I'm like Ares, I want to read the story not watch a condensed video version. And he's right, it's annoying as hell when you get sucked in by clickbait only to find some bullshit video.

But this is different. I don't mind podcasts. I listen to podcasts. But podcasts are for entertainment they have people you enjoy listening to talking about topics you want to listen to. This is supposed to be a fucking news article with information that's quick and easy to digest I don't need a fucking robot drowning on in a slow paced monotone fake ass voice for 8 minutes to tell me 32 seconds worth of information I could have scanned an article for

I do both, but when I expect a written article, I also get annoyed when it's a video. If it's a video, then simply type "Video:" and then the title. It's not hard. I only listen to podcasts at work. Even if they're garbage, I'll still listen to the whole thing because it's a nice distraction that I can just tune in and out of while working.

After last night's rinse & repeat same old same old, they'd have to give me both gas money to go there and a free ticket.
