First we heard the good news about 6'7, and now we can add another half inch to that.
Anthony Macri:
I don't know what 6'6 PFs with those characteristics have been stars, but since DeJuan doesn't fit those characteristics, I'm not sure what to say. He is 6'7.5 in shoes with a 7'2 wingspan (measured myself), plays at or above the rim on a consistent basis, and is working on his jumper. He has a motor like an ox and loves to hit people. Sounds draftable to me.

Not sure with the above the rim comment, but he says he measured him himself.

Well there goes the only concern of Blair right out the window. At 6'7.5 he can play the PF spot with ease..... I'm really getting on the trade up for Blair. I think he can be good for us

I don't think it would make much of sense to trade up for Blair. If the Bulls draft Blair, they would be putting him in the position where he has to do all of the heavy lifting. He would have to be the go to guy in the post, and the tough rugged enforcer rebounder. I don't think Blair is good enough to handle all of those responsibilties. I think he would be great in a pure enforcer role, but he'll probably be a disappointment if we try to put too much on his plate.

I think the Nets and the Bucks are the perfect teams for DeJuan Blair. He could be the enforcer for young centers Lopez or Bogut, and not be put in a position where he's likely to fall on his face.

Really, how many good PFs in the NBA measured out at 6'7.5 in shoes?

Barkley is about the only player I can think of at the moment, and Blair is no Barkley.

Barkley and Rodman come to mind as all time greats but I get your point that in the modern area we haven't seen any. I think it really comes down to what you think is good. Weren't TT and MB around that height?

and neither of them have come close to what they did in college, and they were even more dominant in college

Doubtful, both are listed under 6'7.5 and I remember hearing chuckles was 6'4 without shoes.

I was referring to Tyrus and Beasley

And for the record, both were 6'8.25 in shoes. Beasley 6'7 barefoot and Tyrus 6'7.25 barefoot.

6'7.5 in shoes would depend somewhat on the shoes of course.

Barkley
Rodman
Oakley
Anthony Mason
Willis Reed (yes, he was a center, but he was 6'7 or shorter)

I mean sure there are plenty more..

Well I don't think it really matters about that extra inch in height difference because he has a great wing span, as well as great body and lower body strength compared with Beasley or Tyrus.

He is an old school power forward by every standards, and though he may not be able to face guard the quicker forwards, he'll be able to force them out of the paint or their respective sweet spots with his strength.

One thing I'm hearing a lot is his great motor, and his relentless work habits on the floor, that somewhat proves that he'll over-come any height issues by trying to out work his opposing players.

Plus, we aren't looking for him to become a star on our team, if he can be a rotation player that would be great. If he ends up being our third of even fourth best player, that would be fantastic. I'm not exactly sure what we're expecting from the position we'll be picking from.

That said, I think he'll move up in the draft and may even go in the top 10. IF we are really interested in him, I think it would be dangerous to move up beyond 10 to try to get him, as it will allow other teams to take advantage of us by trying to swindle more from us then we really should give.

Since I never said great and said he can play the PF position with ease meaning we won't have to worry about him being under size when you add height/body frame....... Milsap, Bass and Landry come to mind...

You live by a double sword sometimes Doug. A couple of weeks ago you said if Johnson measures out like Milsap and Bass he'll be able to play the PF spot but Blair being 6'7.5 in shoes with his 250-260lbs frame is now a concern to you....... Can we say flip flopper

plus his technique is very good, so he'll be able to get rebounds. probably fouls too since he'll be fighting to get to the rim on every play

If Blair is 6'7.5 in shoes, it means he's closer to 6'9-6'10 simply because of his neck lenght. He has a very short neck, whereas his shoulder height is comparable to much taller forwards.
