Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun 1m
Heard from another team that the Blackhawks are shopping center Dave Bolland...

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie now
Echoing what @Real_ESPNLeBrun tweeted, CHI's David Bolland is in play on the trade market. Scored GWG in Cup final.

VL looks like he wants a one year deal then go back to Tampa.

Things just got interesting.

Sell high. Sorry, a game winning SC goal was awesome but he's not worth his salary.

Re: Bolland on Trade Block

If they want to keep Bickell which they say they do.. Bolland or a few multiple others would need to be traded.

I'm fully expecting Bolland to be gone but the small thread of hope I'm clinging to is that a ton of people were 100% sure that Hjalmarsson was going to be traded during the last offseason, so, yeah.

I would love to get a few prospects or picks for Bolland and then sign Lecavalier. I doubt that will happen, but trading Bollnad offers a lot of cap space for a needed vet to sign a one year cap friendly deal for a chance at a cup.

Meh, I'm not interested in any of these guys. Down the line the Hawks are looking down the barrel of Toews, Kane and I think Saad all coming due at the same time. Don't laugh, at the rate that Saad is developing...his contract could be a huge factor. You don't want to have a veteran overload. They need to develop some of the kids to be affordable pieces of the puzzle down the road when the REALLY big contracts hit.

I agree with you, to an extent. I think if they can dump Bolland's salary for prospets/picks, they have flexibility if someone over pays for Bickell.

If that happens, they have some space to maneuver, like Leddy, Kruger and a 1-2 year rental like VL, who is still good, was just given $32 million in the buyout and might want to take a million less to play for a champion team.

I'm not saying thats going to happen, but they can acquire/develop prospets AND lure in a solid free agent. Detroit has been very successful at managing the cap to have the option of both.

Lecavalier has said he wants a long-term deal. Already giving up on that one.

Hey, shit....poorly worded post by yours truly. The players I was refering to were the buyouts like Lacavalier and Briere. I'd rather play who we have than lose a kid because we're trying to fit another guy in his twilight years onto the roster.

Oh, I agree on that one.. I still think that getting prospects, instead of a 4th liner, is the way to go with Bolland.

Yeah it was only going to work if he wanted a one year deal shot at a cup. Would have been a nice add, but he is hardly a guy to break the bank for.

Lecavalier? Oh, hes worth the money, every cent. The problem is he is only useful for this team on a one year deal. If he just wants to win, if the Hawks trade Bolly and Frolik, they can fit him under at about 3.75 along with 3.5 that Bickell will get. Sure, you are running with Carcillo on the fourth line and all, but having VL on the second line along with Hossa and Sharp isn't fair for the rest of the NHL along with a Toews/Kane top line. You are also positioning the Hawks to have a better then average shot at repeating as champs.

That being said, it isn't gonna happen.
