Blackhawks recall forward Brandon Bollig from Rockford of the AHL

Bollig Recalled

The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled forward Brandon Bollig from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

Bollig, 25, has registered a career-high six assists and nine points (3G, 6A) in 53 contests with Rockford this year, and ranks seventh in the AHL with a team-high 163 penalty minutes. Originally signed as a free agent following a collegiate career at St. Lawrence University, the St. Charles, Missouri, native has notched eight goals, seven assists and 285 penalty minutes in 111 regular-season tilts over parts of three seasons (2010-12) with the IceHogs.

I have no idea who this guy is but judging by his stat sheet, we're looking at John Scott Pt2. Lets hope this kid can at least move his feet out there and maybe get his face out of the way of a few fists.

Icehogfan, whats the story on this guy?

Im no expert like icehog, but from what i read, he is a combo of john scott and bickell

that is...

He is a hitter and fighter who will stick up for his teammates, but he does have a pretty good wrister (thats where bickell comes in)

For a guy who seems to fight alot, he doesnt really seem that good at it?

I'll say this about fighting in the NHL, and hockey in general (my experience from juniors)...winning a fight rarely matters. As long as you don't get your ass kicked, it doesn't matter.

A fighter like Scott will always win, but how much influence and energy does he give the team from those fights? In my opinion, definitely not more than a fight from Mayers when it means something and the team could care less if he wins or loses. As long as Bollig does his job and fights at the right time, it is going to give the crowd and the team energy...regardless of the outcome.

Thats very true...then toss in the fact that, because Scott was so dominating that many players shyed away from any confrontation with him. That really gives your team nothing and pretty much silents the crowd...although I have to say that his presence in last years series with Vancouver actually helped the Hawks as no Canuck would confront him, subsequently they backed off on their aggression and let the Hawks back into the series. As great as Bolland played....watching Bieksa cower and hide against Scott changed things.
