Let's hope my July 2010 predictions aren't as accurate as my July 2009 predictions. But as I said on the latest CBE, I think Bosh will require a Sign and Trade.

Email to Sam Smith, Bulls.com Employee and guest on CBE 22:
"I heard you yesterday on AM 1000 during halftime of the game. You mentioned that you felt strongly about Noah, and that you wouldn't trade him. Does the organization feel that way? If the Raptors offered Bosh for Noah in a sign and trade, would the organization say yes? Just my opinion, he is the only asset we have that I believe the Raptors would be interested in (assuming of course that Rose is untradeable). Hinrich and Deng are overpaid relative to their production. Other teams would have far more reasonable, younger, or more durable assets."

Sam Smith response:
"He (Noah) will not under any circumstances even for wade be traded"

Ryen Russillo of the 4/28/10 ESPN NBA Podcast for : “I talked to somebody last night that has a pretty good gauge on the situation and they feel like that Bosh is going to do the right thing with a sign and trade?”
17:58 – 20:20

Ryen then ponders if the Raptors would take Deng. That is the big question. In a perfect world, they would take Deng and his bloated contract off our hands. In the most perfect world, they would also take Hinrich. Or, they could go with this scary Bill Simmons scenario:

I think Ernie Grunfeld should be the 2009-10 Anti-Executive of the Year. He turned Dallas into a contender and made Cleveland the overwhelming favorite. His failure to grab J.J. Hickson in the Antawn Jamison trade was the biggest front-office boner of the season by someone not named "David Kahn" and, if you want to dig deeper, an important chess piece in this summer's "Will LeBron stay or go?" drama. Without Hickson, Cleveland wouldn't have a young player to include in a summer sign-and-trade if, say, LeBron stays and Chris Bosh or Joe Johnson wants to join him. Keeping Hickson allows the Cavs to say to Toronto/Atlanta, "Bosh/Johnson is leaving anyway -- give him the max and flip him to us, and we'll give you Hickson, two future No. 1s and $3 million, and sign Shaq for one year and $10 million to make the swap of contracts work ... do we have a deal?" Thanks again, Ernie. You just opened the window for Cleveland to win five straight titles.

I think the thing with Toronto is they would be interested in Deng, but we would have to take Hedu back. So maybe we could do something like Deng, Taj, JJ and future 1 for Bosh/Hedu and Benilli. As for Cleveland why the hell would Toronto do that trade? JJ Hickson is the biggest overrated player in the history of the NBA. The only thing remote he can do is catch ally-oops from Lebron. I think there's a reason why Grunfield didn't want because he sucks!!!!

That was a crazy trade suggestion. This is different. As a Bulls employee, I'm sure he talks with the management team, and possibly the owner. I think he has been told this.

And this is just my opinion, but I think he has been pushing Joe Johnson because that's the direction management wants to go in.

If deng isn't injured, he'd actually be a good fit in toronto. Calderon, Barg, are good shooters from outside the arch. Barg is a rebounder, maybe if deng played closer to the basket on the offensive end, he'd be able to get a few more rebounds on that end. It might make up for barg's complete inability to rebound. He'd be the marion to nowitzski.

If you're right, then i was right all along. Houheffna is JR.

I high doubt that since in the closing meeting the first Forman said we need was a 4 like Bosh. Sam idea's just competely suck and he should stick to just giving us rumors. Check out this blog he posted yesterday regarding Taj Gibson

Taj Gibson: Along with Noah, he was the surprise of the season coming from the 26th pick in the draft to starting 70 games, second most to Rose. He made $1 million and was one of the league’s best bargains. He averaged nine points and 7.5 rebounds and with Noah made the Bulls one of the league’s best rebounding teams. He does have trouble against bigger players, but is a relentless worker. He’s got to improve his shooting and strength. If the Bulls can get Bosh, he’ll either be in a sign and trade or make up a heck of a front line with Noah. He gives the Bulls the option to explore fixing their shooting issues first because he can be a starting power forward, if not at an All Star level.

Re:Bosh will sign and trade / Noah will not be tra

When Bosh says that he is going to Chicago, the Raptors should just be thankful to get that giant trade exception, a first round pick, and maybe James Johnson for Bosh.

You don't give up anything of value in a sign and trade like this. You do that when you're over the cap, and want to sign and trade for a player. (See Isiah Thomas Knicks). We have the cap space, so the Raptors don't get nothing.

I don't see any reason to trade Deng either if you get Bosh. He is probably the second best small forward defender in the league behind Lebron. And he is money on that midrange jumpshot. If you have Rose/Bosh taking all the defensive attention, leaving Deng wide open all the time, then Deng would be a killer piece to have on this team.

Then again...Bulls should think twice about trading James Johnson too. Maybe just give them the picks and maybe the rights to Asik. When you know you're going to be battling against Lebron for the next 10 years, you're going to want to have Deng and Johnson both here to defend Lebron.

I don't believe a word Sam Smith says when it comes to trades. He just makes stuff up.

That said Noah aint going out in a package for Bosh anyway. You don't get that sort of value when your star player is a free agent and wants to leave.

Are you telling me you believe a word of what Gar Doorman says? This the guy who said "Re-signing Ben Gordon is our top priority" last off season, then didn't even offer a contract. I believe ZERO of what this blowhard ever says.

And I know you hate Taj, but Sam is completely right in what he is saying. Not the all-star level stuff but Taj is a big part of why our interior D vastly improved & our rebounding was tops in the league all season.

LOL I missed that bit, in fairly James Johnson did a great job guarding LeBron. He sent him to shoot so many free throws LeBron's elbow got sore.
