If anyone is watching the Dallas/Denver game right now will see why I want Bass. He has a nice 15-17 foot jumper and is around the basket which is nice for the PG to drive and dump it off and he runs hard on the break

I didn't see a thread to talk about all off season moves so thought I start one

he would be a nice piece to add for a understandable contract.

I think he could be signed for 3-4 per year which would be a steal. There's no playing time for him there unless they want Dirk to play the 5 which I wouldn't.

He's a UFA so Dallas which is good. IMO a 4yr/12mil will get it done or a 3yr/9mil could even do it. The most I would go is 4/16but I don't think he'll get that.

We might not have a chance at a good PF in the draft and he would definitely fill the void.

Re:2009 Offseason

Bj is there I think Noah can slide over to the 4. I think when we get bigger players like that, the better our chance of stopping the 260 pound Lebron. Noah just isn't the answer to me at the 5. He has to get bigger or we have to acquire Bass and other physical guys. I'm when I say get bigger, I mean add muscle and not fat. That's why he was out of shape in this year. The guy has to go and workout with Zo in Miami.

Chris Anderson but he will be costly. Bass reminds me of a lesser talented Carl Landry, sign me up if he is cheap.

Craig Smith got what type of deal from Minny last season? 4 years 10 million? something like that. Would a team offer Bass that type?

He is a key backup and I don't see Cuban letting him go, when was the last time he let anyone go because of financial reasons, espically for sub MLE money?

He is UFA so it doesn't matter what Cubans wants. All Cuban could do is offer more which could make it a potential bad contract for Dallas going forward. Bass isn't going to get anymore minutes than he is right now so I see him looking to leave and go to a team that he can get extra playing time which we would be one of those teams. Bass can get 25minutes easy on this team and could even push Tyrus for the job.

I also feel a guy like him might be needed to push Tyrus more.

Zaza Paculia is a interesting free agent as is Anthony Paker. They would be a solid punch off the bench.

I would look at Bass over Zaza but any front court player would help. Also Bass and Zaza are pointless if we re sign BG because we'll have no room money wise.

LLE? not that it would be enough for either player.

Re:2009 Offseason

If we could add one Bass or Pachulia and keep the team as is that would be great. If we don't keep BG or Hinrich then we have to pick one of them and then add another guard. Anthony Parker off the bench for the lle would be fine.

And thats something Cuban isn't scared of. He will pay and the bulls don't like to pay and won't have enough room under the LT to make a strong offer. With both picks signed, a lower LT, the bulls would only have under 3 million to offer and that with letting BG go. And that wouldn't even put them at 12 players. So they would still need to sign a guy.

Yah, according to Hoopshype.com the Bulls would be at the Luxury Tax level even without signing Gordon so signing a Free Agent will be tough unless we move someone, should probably be moved at draft time while the 16th pick is worth something and could be packaged with Tim Thomas and Jerom James.

Re:2009 Offseason

I've changed my mind completely.

We need to KEEP Ben Gordon and dump Kirk Hinrich, the craptain.

It took me some time but I'm finally convinced.

Trade him to Miami...trade him to Philly...i don't care where just get rid of him.

Luxury tax level should be 69 millionish. The Bulls will likely be around 66 million right now if they keep their draft picks before signing anyone else. They probably need to trip around 4 million off the payroll to avoid the luxury tax if they want to sign Gordon and keep their draft picks.

Doug is right counting draft picks pre Gordon decision we would have 11 guys at about $66 million meaning if Gordon walks we add two minimum level guys and we are done. Otherwise you got to cut $4-5 million in order to get Gordon signed. Not sure how we are going to do it. I imagine we won't be signing any FA like Bass but instead getting a big in the draft(Blair).

Bass is pretty much if we don't sign Gordon which is a good chance. We should have 3-3.8mil and that should be enough to land

Point taken Ralph and depending upon who we draft I could see it. The team would look like this not counting the draft picks.

Rose,Hinrich
Salmons
Deng
Tyrus, Bass
Noah, Miller

Does this mean you go perimeter with both picks? Gerald Henderson and Chase Budinger?
