He's the best tweeter ever, so a Cubs signing would be awesome.

Naturally. But despite what he can do, and given that teams with money have their pick of healthy guys like Greinke, Anibal Sanchez and Shaun Marcum just to name a few examples...how much money do you expect McCarthy to get? I don't think he'll be lowballed but I don't think he'll make more than $10MM a year if even close to that. So I wouldn't consider ridiculous amounts of money until we see how the market sets itself.

I don't know about giving a guy with that much injury history and who just got brain surgery after a line drive off the noggin that much money over that many years. If someone's willing to do it then I hope it's not the Cubs.

I figure he'll get something like 3/18, with escalators hitting 24-27M  I could be wrong, but I don't see a lot of teams willing to shell out a lot of money to a pitcher w/ that injury history. $10M/yr seems ridiculous.

But, never know I guess. Someone could be thinking 3/27 w/ escalators hitting 33/36.

That seems reasonable. Incentive-laden with a couple options, using the Maholm deal as a baseline (but a bit higher to start since he's better than Maholm).

Injuries and headshot=incentive based deal. Head is fine physically, mentally we dont know how he will handle the mound.

He has been in the league since: 2005 when he came up with the sox.

max innings in one season: 170 IP in 2011
2nd best innings pitched: 111 IP in 2012

So yes....all incentives. 2 year deal MAX.

If McCarthy wants the moon I'd rather the Cubs went after Anibal Sanchez instead. Or Greinke. If they're going to spend stupid money they might as well get a pitcher who might actually be worth it at least in terms of durability.
