Gallagher will win it though but it's still a great nomination.

I would rather him show up for game 4...than win the trophy

Are they crying in EDM that Shultz or Yakupov didn't get a nomination?

he has been invisible so far..not going to go into theories as to why. Agree he needs to up his game in game 4 rookie or not. Toews needs some god damn help.

I think the Oilers fans are crying about Pronger leaving still.

No. EDM fans are crying about Yakupov and MIN fans are raising holy hell about Brodin. I am kind of amazed at how much actual outrage and spleen venting there is all over the net about Saad making the 3 Finalists list. Jesus, Marian Hossa, and Joseph but the smack talking and dismissing of Saad's season just because he played on a line with Toews and Hossa---as if he didn't earn getting to stay up there all year and he pulled his +17, TOI, and PK time out of his ass like a chimp at the zoo.

Most inane in all of this is that people keep posting everywhere in a manner that implies that the voting sports writers chose these 3 as Finalists like it's a subjective beauty pageant when the FACT of the matter is these are the 3 who wound up with the most votes from the whole pool. Period. For all we know the list could have been the difference between 1-2 votes. Jeez, GTF over the severe butt hurt fans of other rookies! While I REVEL in *my* rookie getting the votes suckahs, LOL!

To be honest, I never heard of Gallagher til the first game of the playoffs... Loved Galchenyuk from what I saw of him, but I never heard of Gallagher before.

Considering what Saad has done this year and the fact he has given Q the ability to put more star players on other lines, I'd give it to him.

If the Panthers made it into the playoffs I'd give it to Huberdeau instead considering his stats are beyond stellar. .

Well wether we Hawk fans like it or not the voters are going to look at who these rookies played with. I know that's not always the fair criteria but lets be a little humble here. It never hurts for anyone to play with Toews and Hossa lol. I don't think Saad does as well as he did this season without Toews esp. Again that isn't to take anything away from Saads talents as he certainly has them and was impressive with his 2 way game for a rookie. Can't take the fact that he has a two way game away from him no matter who he playes with but his offensive numbers are padded a little bit and the voters aalllllways look at offensive numbers if you are a rookie forward.

Gallagher will also get the nod because he had a pretty big hand in turning the Habs season into a winning one. Voters love that shit when it comes to rookies also. They love seeing a rookie step onto a team that was poor the year before and take them into a high seed in the playoffs.

Huberdeau will take votes away from Gallagher but Saad simply won't get many at all. Besides Saad really hasn't been a name in the press as much as Gallagher has been this season either. Eastern media bias (and Habs are the next best at that after the Leafs). Maybe it was different in the States but up here until the last month of the season it was all about Gallagher..even Huberdeaus name wasn't mentioned much.

I wouldn't personally---he's a defensive sieve. Players go all Wild, Wild West offensively on shitty Panthers teams, see: Frolik, Michael see also Bouwmeester, Jay :icon-twisted: It's what they do. And I really don't see how his offensive stats have been that much more mind-blowing than the other Forwards who were in the running---he and Yakupov only finished with 4 more pts. than Saad and 3 more than Gallagher. I don't think either Huberdeau or Yakupov (if he'd gotten the votes to make the Final 3) were the "most proficient" players their rookie seasons unless proficient all of a sudden means highest scoring. And I also don't buy into the sob story the NHL and their teams try to sell with the whole "they did so much with less" meme. I think it's harder to be a successful rookie on a winning and competitive team where roster spots and TOI are precious commodities. To make an identity for yourself and hold your own with vets like that impresses me more than players who are pretty much allowed to go out there and do whatever the **** they want and BE the offense from the jump.

Of course my vote goes to Saad cuz I LUUURVES his game. Also? Because I am a homer! BUT seriously I would have ZERO problem with Gallagher getting the Calder---like Saad, I prefer his more complete all-around game for such a young Forward. <--- These were "proficient" players IMO. Gallagher's simply been amazeballs for the Habs. He looked REALLY impressive out there when I watched MTL games this season.

My issue with my job at the time was being unable to see East coast games as often as I would like as where I worked closed at 9pm and I didn't get home til 11 or so...

As a result, I got to mainly see Western Conference games this year. No big deal, really. I'm glad I kept up some. Even though Center Ice did show repeats of the earlier games much later in the night, I wasn't too fond of not seeing the games live and bitching about them here on the site as I normally do.

Now that I moved elsewhere, I could see some of the ones that came on when I get home around 8pm some days.

That said, I'm looking forward to seeing more of Montreal next season.

I would just use my HS account to watch some EC action but not a ton as it was hard enough with the condensed schedule and there being Hawks games like every other fucking night, LOL. So I hear ya. The SOLE thing I like about the new realignment is that every team has to have 2 gms. against every team in the other Conference. That will be awesome to have guaranteed play against the other O6 teams and the Flyers and Caps and Pens, etc.
