Question and Answer Part 1: General Manager/Manager Jacob Janower
Q: How does it feel to become the first GM/Manager?
A: It feels great, I couldn't be happier. Never in a million years would I have expected this.
Q: How do you expect this team to finish?
A: Obviously, we want to win the division, and I think we are capable of that, but I will settle for the Wild Card. I think we are definitley playoff bound.
Q: Derrek Lee was your team MVP last year. Who do you think it will be this year?
A: Its anyone's game at this point. We could all hit well and pitch well. I don't see a clear favorite right now.
Q: Do you plan on making any moves before opening day?
A: Yes, we have one that will be announced soon, but that's is it.
Q: What top prospects have a chance at making the opening day roster.
A: Castro has a great shot, and Cashner is in the mix with Coleman, Russell, and Berg for the final pen shot, but that is it. Look for most to be called up later down the road.

Cubs Acquire 4 prospects for Derrek Lee

Today, the Cubs traded Derrek Lee to the San Fransisco Giants for four prospects. Pitchers Waldis Joaquin (the headliner), Henry Sosa, and Chris Gloor, and First Baseman Michael Ambort. Ambort, Tracy, and Hoffpauir are expected to battle for the first base spot. A quick press conference with Joaquin is coming up soon.

Q: So Ted, how does it feel to start opening day for the first time in your career?
TL: I am a bit nervous, but this is a huge honor and I am glad to represent our group of guys.
Q: Coach Janower, how do you feel about your roster?
JJ: I feel great, we have a little bit of everything. Speed (Castro), Hits (Theriot, RBI's (Ramirez), Doubles (Byrd), Home Runs (Soriano), ERA (Wells, Lilly), Strikeouts (Dempster and Marmol). We will make a World Series run.
Q: Waldis, how does it feel to be trade for a player of Derrek Lee's caliber.
WJ: I am shocked and happy. I wouldn't have ever thought of this.
Q: A-Ram, you have never really been the Cubs three hitter ever, how does it feel to be the big run producer with Lee gone.
AR: Well, I hope to drive in some runs (laughs). We have great hitters that could also provide us with hits, and RBI's, so I am looking forward to this season.
