BJax gonna hit a 3-run homer in first at-bat and then a 3-run triple after being robbed of a single by the Center Fielder. :shifty:

That would be incredible considering he's supposed to lead off.

I think that they will start him 8th like Castro... or he could walk in his first PA, thus not being an AB.

Or maybe he'll hit a 7 run homer to deep south!

If next year is a rebuilding year, it would be the first in a long time.

Honestly i dont see how it wont be a rebuilding year. With A-ram prolly leaving and no other 3B in FA, 1B they wont get a Fielder or Pujols without any protection for them. Knowing Cubs they will sign some bad vets to try and sell to fans that they are trying to compete like Pena, some bad 3B, and prolly keep Byrd...i honestly think fans would be ok with this lineup

Jackson CF
Barney 2B
Castro SS
LaHair 1B
Soto C
Sori LF (dont see Cubs getting rid of that contract)
Colvin RF
Vitter 3B

Not going to win but atleast some youth....Better then Byrd CF, Pena 1B, some old vet at 3B.

I still don't get how the only option is to rebuild and why there is no possibility of being competitive. And we need to stop talking about hitters at 3rd til he fan show that can handle it defensively. LaMahieu is the beat prospect we have that can actually play third in the high minors which is sad.

I pray that they try to be competitive. If Rameriz isnt brought back there is no way they will compete then. No way Fielder or Pujols comes to Cubs if they have no protection.

This idea that Pujols or Fielder have completely ruled out playing for any team is silly. At the end of the day for 95% (purely arbitrary number) athletes sign with the team offering the most coin. The Cubs have as much shot as any team at getting either, and ultikately Tom Ricketts has far more say in whether the Cubs get Fielder or Pujols than the player. Ricketts has to decide whether or not he is going to pay the premium price for premium talent that the system isn't producing at this point.

Most of this is speculative anyway. It's a fun exercise to think about how Team X is going to spend their money in order to improve or become a juggernaut, but until it's officially official, it's just speculation :D What we think doesn't matter as much as what the people with the loads of money actually do.
