Torn Labrum in his right shoulder, apparently was bothering him all season. That might explain his offense slumping a bit this year.

Thanks for posting this.

I did know he had surgery coming up, but the local news can't stop tripping over their dicks talking about the Bulls long enough to mention anything hockey.

**** basketball.

Is this the same problem Marty had? Hope he heals quickly and makes a full recovery.

They never really said what Marty's exact issue was. His shoulder kept coming out of its socket. But I don't know if that was labrum or not. It does explain if Brouwer had it most of the year why his scoring was down, I still say let him go but nice toughness.

This was directly caused by him crashing into the boards in one of those late season games.

Havlat had a problem with the shoulder staying in the socket. The first surgery did not correct it. The second surgery put a bone in place so it would NEVER come out of socket again. IT was risky to do that though as it could have directly effected the mobility/movement of the shoulder. It didn't though and he came back with a rocket season leading the Hawks to the WCF's on what was probably one of our best lines ever in Havlat-Boland-Ladd.

Brouwers is nothing like this. He has/had a tear. Brouwer also knew he'd have to have surgery in the off season but once the pain subsided could play through the playoffs until then.

Who would you guess is going under the knife next? It looked like a lot of those guys were banged up to hell and gone near the end.

There has been a feeling from Hawks fans that the time has come to jettison Brouwer. I've heard this from reasonably intelligent Hawks fans.

Brouwer last three regular seasons: 226 games, 49 goals, 18 ppg

Yet some people are more than happy to toss the salad of a newcomer like Frolik.

Frolik last three regular seasons: 241 games, 53 goals, 7 ppg

Something to consider.

IMO most of Brouwers problem is Q. Q can't decide which game he wants from Brouwer. When Q becomes consistent, so too may Brouwer.

I like what I saw from Frolik and Bolland. I'd keep him for sure. Problem is with a 2nd line Center and Sharp back with the Kids, where do you put Brouwer. 4th line? Can he be productive there? Certainly better and more skilled than Burish was.

To an certain extent, I agree on keeping Frolik. As with Brouwer, Johnson, Campoli, Kopecky, Stalberg, and Dowell it's a matter of how much and how long.

Note to self: ***** slap self for including Stalberg above.

Konopka vs Johnson. Konopka adds huge grit, but he doesn't kill Penalties, nor does he take Face offs killing penalties because he's not on the ice for the PK. Big down fall IMO.

Stalberg gone IMO. Upgrade with someone more physical.

Dowell, replace with Johnson, gone.

wrong thread but

Sharp-Toews-Kane

Someone-Someone-Hossa

Frolik-Bolland-Bickell

Someone-Johnson-Brouwer

Brouwer and Bickell can both be physical, and they need to have some MEAN in their game. With that I don't think people will be bitching bout this team being physical.

Kopecky had a career high in points. I might keep him for the 4th line.

Kopecky-Johnson-Brouwer. Now I don't think Brouwer is a 4th liner so do you rotate him on Hossa's line with Kopecky. Gives some options.

You also have Morin and Smith that are ready.

As long as it's the wrong thread...

I don't have a problem with Junior bringing back much of the same team with an upgrade or two. If the Hawks keep their Cap powder dry, make the acquisitions at next years trade deadline. Two and a half million in cap space throughout the season can get a couple of 3 million contracts at the deadline.

Edit: or a 5 million dollar contract. Can you imagine Shane Doan skating on a line with Towes and Kane? And now I awake from the dream.

I think you make a great point. Shane Doan, Brooks Laich...

There are some options, but not much money. You have roughly 11 mil for 8 players. If you were to do Doan and then move Sharp to 2nd line Center, it answers the question of getting another center. Then you only need to add grit.

Now is Stans time to shine because this team is NOT far from where they were when they won the Cup. In the Cup year you had players with Grit, IE Eager/Burish (who remember was out most of the year) and Ladd, who brang something to all facets of the game.

will be interesting to see what team is here in Sept. I'd try to trade Campbell and pick up a grittier D man while keeping Campoli. But will someone take Campbell and what shitty contract is coming back.

Campbell for Wiz. No doubt Montreal is one of Brians team. I might also make a pitch to Buffalo. One they liked Campbell, and two they need a leader.

I don't think there are any more. I only knew about Brouwer because I over heard a few talking about it when they returned from Montreal.

I really think other bruises and strains will be cured by time off the ice. They'll have 1-2 months before they even think about skating. At least most of them.

Time is what most on this team needed. Notice how Phily fell apart and their injuries piled up right near the end. The season for teams going all four rounds is crazy.

A certain defenseman that didn't live up to his play from the year before had surgery on his elbow last month...not serious surgery, but more than a clean up. It was an injury that lingered most of the season.
