Unrelated to Ryan but football is crazy in the sense that coaches get so much credit or take so much heat based on W/L, often decided by flukey things. If Reid went to the Jets instead of KC does he become a HOF Coach or fade away like Jeff Fisher? Same with Belichick and the Pats; both coming off situations of being fired.
If you have a top 5-7 QB you are locked into the narrative of being a good coach for a decade. Not to say those guys aren’t really good coaches. But a good QB is good for the economy, saves a lot of jobs
