Since I was really concentrated on the White Soxs last year I really missed most off season (partly because season suck and nothing happen). So I was wondering when did we start getting news and stuff. Do we have to wait till June when playoffs are over?

Now till June will basically be mostly draft talk with some trade rumors. We'll also find out who opts in and who opts out by June 30th which I believe is the deadline.

Free agent negotiations can't kick off until July 1st. I believe you can't finalize any agreements until July 13th, but I could be off by a couple days here or there. It's about 2 weeks.

All the big dominos typically fall in the first 2 weeks, but this year will be interesting. There are a ton of good players, but no great players, and most of the good players are older. I will be very interested to see FA this summer.

Draft is June 26th I believe (maybe 25th).

So the playoffs will run mostly through the draft stuff.

Doug I'm not sure if you wrote it or if it was in the podcast but you were talking about being realistic and basically that we gotta act like Gordon isn't here and that the team we have is probably the team we're have with the picks and I agree with you on that.

Until we hear BG signed with the Bulls he is not a Bull and we gotta assume that the guys under contract are the guys going to battle next year

As you said, it looks to be the perfect time to be a buyer, should make things very interesting.

Isiah, a man before his time. Couldn't help but laugh.

Just looked up West's salary, boy is it decent.
09/10: $9,075,000
10/11: $8,287,500
11/12: $7,525,000 (ETO)

Basically the Bulls only have 3 frontcourt players. If you trade one for West than we still neesd another to come in and help. West would be great but only if we could keep all of our bigs. Maybe a Deng for West but New Orleans would want a big in return. I don't know if we can afford to get rid of any of our bigs unless we get 2 in return.

Trades are a way to improve the team, if you're worried that you won't be complete after trading for a player. You will never make a move.

The only reason for NO to consider parting with West is for money, so Deng won't cut it. A deal would be exceptionally hard to work out, but I wonder how appealing Jerome, Tim and Tyrus for West and Posey. Obviously not even close talent wise, but it would take quite a bit of salary off their books.
Though the idea of seeing Posey in a Bulls uniform is just wrong.

That trade is interesting, and Posey coming would not be the worst thing. I seem to be more old school, but Posey is not a Bulls rival to me. It's not like John Starks, Patrick Ewing or Reggie Miller coming its just a guy who got a few flagrants, that's no reason to not bring him in.

Great podcast. When you were reviewing our players year you mentioned you may have forgot to mention one of our starters. I think (maybe i missed it) you missed out on reviewing Luol Deng's season, even though we don't need you to do that as we all know what Deng's season was like hehe

Also during the part you spoke about BG not being resigned you said we wont be able to trade Kirk or Luol. Is this just from what you've heard from your sources or just an assumption.

I know Paxson said in several interviews during the season that teams are still interested in Luol. Is this just a front by the organization? I can definitely see why they would & why, even not considering the economic climate, it would be easy to assume he can't be traded

However with Kirk i disagree. I think you could find at least one bidder for him. Though he didnt play as many minutes, his play IMO was on level with 06-07 season & had redeemed his horrible 07-08 year. I still see Kirk as tradeable, though I'd prefer to cut our loses with Deng in a salary dump before trading Kirk

You could easily trade Kirk for an expiring.

You couldn't trade him for cap space IMO. Amare Stoudemire has a good chance to be traded for cap space.

I guess you have a point there. Whatever the case is I just hope we sign Ben. Its gonna be a long wait till we know thats for sure. Thanks

I think Tyrus has adult ADD or something, like Chris Kaman.

Vinny and co. need to find a new approach to defending the pick and roll. The switching strategy carried the Celtics through the 3rd quarter and some of the fourth, and was a large part of a number of regular season losses as well.

I wonder if one of Amare/West gets traded to Detroit for cap space. That would kill me to see Amare in detroit.
