Hollinger's 2010-11 NBA Playoff Odds - National Basketball Association - ESPN

it's crazy if you look at it. Bulls are at 23% to win the championship. The only other team to come close to the bulls' odds is the lakers.

The bulls chance at the #1 seed is 58.9% If they get the one seed, Derrick rose is the mvp. no questions asked. He's the best player on the best team.

I think Hollinger's formula is a reflection of how very important it is to avoid the heat and celtics.

True story.

I think if we get the 1 seed it may be a wrap. I don't like being overly optimistic but...

I agree. What really jumped out at me is that the Bulls are 58.9% Likely to get the 1 seed while the Celtics (who are still a 1/2 game ahead) are only at 37.8%. I want to see Boston and Miami play each other in the 2nd round (2 and 3 seeds preferably), and then the Bulls play whichever one is left in the finals. I think it will be a lot tougher for the Bulls to beat both teams than just one.

If we can't get the 1 seed then I would want Miami to fall to 4, but I'd rather have home court advantage throughout, of course.

I was talking to DT, he pointed out that inspite of being 1 behind, they have the tie breaker, so we would have to get 2 games ahead. Boston has the easier schedule, and we've got injuries to our key guys.

Hollinger's forumula isn't a predictive forumula, and based completely on stats, so it wont take into account our injuries. right? If so, i can see why hollinger thinks we'll be the 1st seed. At the very least, we have the 2nd seed locked.

Can you guys remember the last time seeding mattered in the east?

I was too young to think seeding would matter during the Jordan era, and this is the first time I felt the Bulls could win it since then. For me, this is definitely the first time I've cared about NBA playoff seeding.
