The Bulls are no stranger to Blake Griffin's posterizing jams (see Ronnie Brewer trying to get out of the above above picture). Griffin dunked the Clippers to an improbable 100-99 victory over the Bulls at the United Center on Dec. 18. It was just the Clips' third road victory of the season at that point and likely was a nice win for former Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro on his first trip back to Chicago.
The Bulls will try to avenge that loss tonight in Los Angeles. They may have avoided the snow on their West Coast swing, but the forecast calls for plenty of Griffin and Bulls forward Taj Gibson is fine with that. The message after that December loss appears to be a modified version of Pat Riley's "No layups" rule.
"I'm going to either try to get the block or take a foul," Gibson was quoted in K.C. Johnson's story on Wednesday. "Nothing easy."
That might be easier said than done, since Griffin's list of victims is vast.
Sports Illustrated's Chris Ballard has compiled an oral history of Griffin's dunks dating back to his AAU days with quotes from the victims. He's gotten some big names in the NBA in just his first season and some players, like Ron Artest, actually look forward to it.
"I'm not going to lie," Artest told the New York Times. "I hope he dunks on me, puts his shoulders on my face and, like, 'Aaaaah!'"
You could add the entire New York Knicks' roster to that list after Griffin's most memorable performance this season when he had a tip-slam on a Eric Gordon miss, a ridiculous facial of Timofey Mozgov and an incredible 360 spin on the dribble and dunk on Danilo Gallinari.
