I think it's been pretty well documented that the Bulls hole is at SG, and with trades to fill it looking difficult (unless we want to overpay), I was wondering what sort of prospects there are in the draft to get someone who fills our need.

The mock drafts at this point don't look really hopeful, there is a serious lack of SGs projected to come out this year. I don't get the chance to watch college basketball, so I don't know if there's some guy flying under the radar that might become a strong late first prospect we could snap up, anyone have any thoughts?

Just from reading about him and looking at his highlights David Lighty strikes me as the sort of guy that might be able to come in and contribute as a solid role player on both ends, and projects to be available. Although whether he has NBA three point range seems to be questionable.

I don't know a lot of names, but what about Kemba Walker? (Even though he's probably be top 10)

Walker will go super high.

More accurate for us would be a guy like David Lighty, 6'6 SG from Ohio St. most mocks currently have him upper-2nd round, but he'll go in the 1st.

If we left that draft with Nolan Smith from Duke and David Lighty from OSU, it's a successful draft. The PG class is deep in this draft, so finding a back-up w/ a style similar to Rose's should be on the top of the list.

also, Walker is 6'1. He's a shoot-first PG. He'd be great on any team, but we can't start him..we'd be better off going SG...and rooting for Charlotte to make the playoffs and lose their first series. They are actually just 1 game out of 8th n the East right now...which is pathetic...seeing as they're 12-21.

i was thinking about nolan smith as a pg. we have pretty good front court depth. we dont really need another sf. there aren't too many sg's available, so might as well go with a back up pg.

I haven't even started thinking about SG Draft Prospects. They're only 35 games in after tonight. It may be close to the halfway point but I'm still aiming for the trade scenario before the draft personally....that's if the FO pulls the trigger on a decent deal.

They'll probably go for back court depth in the draft barring a trade for a backup pg or starting sg. I don't really know anyone coming out for the draft, but Nolan Smith is a name I've heard. He might be a good Watson type player, but I won't pretend to know anything about him.

from what i heard he can't create his own offense, but he's good at creating for others. i'm not sure how that's going to translate in the nba. he might be a decent back up, but i've never seen him play. from what little i've read, he sounds like the anti-watson.

Are you talking about Nolan? Dude's boss. He can create, but is pass-first. He'll be a solid contributor as a back-up on any team for a couple years.

yeah nolan. i read some stuff about him from draft express. there really aren't sg's out there, so i'd guess i'd go for him.

Nolan Smith as a backup PG sounds interesting, I guess it depends on who is available because I'm not sure I'd want to use the first rounder on a backup PG when you can usually sign one fairly cheaply when it's only a role we want for 10 minutes a game.

If he can play SG (especially guard SGs) in the NBA he becomes a lot more interesting as a Kirk Hinrich type player though. Another ball handler for when teams trap Rose would be good to have.

He's not a shooting guard, but I would love to see Chris Singleton in a Bulls uniform. I doubt he'll be available where the Bulls select, but if he's there he'll be a good guy to fill out the roster and rotation.

i duno. i guess it all depends on the atmosphere surrounding the draft. If it appears that it's increasingly likely that there would be a lockout, i have a feeling that people, who would be going into the draft, might stay in college an extra year. It might make a weak/interesting draft class this year.

Nolan smith is a combo guy....great shooting...not extremely fast but he's quick...great scorer....great defender as well...can also pass and rebound

i could see him play some SG although i think he should continue to become familiar with the PG position...which he has done very well since kyrie's injury

all in all, i think he'd be a good pick in the 20s

Yeah if there's a lockout it's bad for the Bulls because all the prospect type players wont declare and so it'll push everyone else up the order. The Bulls surely only want the NBA ready guys, not another JJ who will rot on the bench.

Nolan isn't a good enough shooter to play the 2 in the NBA, imo...The dude will develop into a starting PG, though.
Honestly, I see him getting drafted by a team like the Lakers or Spurs...be mentored by their PGs for a year, then take over...

a lot of these guys look good in college, then turn out to be duds in the nba. anything after the 10th pick turns out to be a crapshoot. if nolans' in the 20s, i'm not super excited about him.

Nolan Smith is going to be a steal for somebody, he is a good player and I think he can develop into a very good PG in the NBA

his defense is needed against all these talented PG in the NBA now
