could be non-story or they could be seriously interested in signing him

After being released by the Grizzlies in April, Dexter Pittman will join a new NBA team in hopes of earning a roster spot for the coming season. Emiliano Carchia of Sportando reports that Pittman has turned down an offer from an Italian club in favor of a training-camp invite from the Bulls.

Pittman, 25, has spent most of his three-year NBA career with the Heat, winning a title with the team in 2011/12. However, he was sent to Memphis in a deadline deal back in February, and was cut by the Grizzlies just before the club's playoff run started. In 48 career NBA contests since 2010, Pittman has averaged 2.4 PPG and 1.8 RPG, while those averages increase to 13.6 PPG and 8.4 RPG in 37 D-League games over the same period.

With Pittman's addition not yet official, the Bulls only have 12 players under contract, so there definitely should be room for the former second-round pick on the regular-season roster if he earns a spot. Still, I'd imagine Pittman's deal will be fully non-guaranteed, affording the club some flexibility.

i mean he could dish out hard fouls

Harrington must like losing lol, but at this point I could understand Jamison wanting to play if we don't get him I wouldn't mind Pittman at this point

Nate was on a non-guaranteed contract last season.

I guess this is as good a 13th man as they can get.

He's had conditioning issues his entire career and needs to lose some weight. Certainly a big body and could be good for throwing out 6 fouls during the playoffs, I guess.....

:dunno:

He's a fatass that shouldn't be in the NBA. What's really sad is that when he was at Texas he dropped like 40 or 50 pounds and he's still massive as ****. He sucks at defense, can't rebound despite being 6'10, and has no offense.

Like many NBA players he isn't driven by getting one ring, mostly they want to get one more paycheck and another year towards the pension.

As for Pittman not knowing the source of the story, it could be some media member who is a friend and is building him up and getting his name out there. In reality, do the Bulls really see any value to an end of the bench guy who got traded and cut by TWO playoff teams last year? He's obviously no difference maker.

its being reported by legit sites and they are saying he turned down playing overseas hoping to secure a spot with the Bulls and nobody thats left is a difference maker

I love it, been saying we need an enforcer type guy for a while. I like him to do the same thing he did for LJ. Teams started to beat up DRose when he drove the lane. This guy can come in and throw his weight around a little and let guys know what's up. This alone, imo, will make him a productive player, as he sits at the end of the bench. I'm curious if Thibbs can rub off on him as well.

Dexter Pittman passes up European contract for Bulls camp

The Chicago Bulls have 13 guys guaranteed on the roster, they have a couple spots they can fill if they want. They may not do so, but the space is there if a player can convince them they will help. Dexter Pittman has given up a European contract to take a shot at one of those spots, reports Sportando.

Free agent big man Dexter Pittman turned down an offer from Italian Club Sidigas Avellino, a source told Sportando. The center will join the training camp of the Chicago Bulls hoping to get a contract for the coming season. Pittman couldn’t crack the Heat’s rotation last year, and that was a team that could use help along the front line. He ended up with a cup of coffee in Memphis.

The Bulls are deep up front, this is a hard rotation to crack. Pittman has the size, he’s a 6’11” but he has had conditioning issues and could never just get in the rotation. Hard to see how Pittman can do that suddenly out of the Bulls, but he believes in himself.

They do? Or just another aggregative writer who doesn't fact check.

Here is my best rose colored glasses.

He has transformed his body. he is not slim by any means, but he has lost most of his fat and has bulked up a lot.

He is a non-guaranteed contract so he might help facilitate a trade to a team that is looking to cut some money this season. He can also be released and the Bulls could pick up a D league guy in Jan if they want.

The Bulls had to have 13 guys and now they do.

He is not afraid to elbow someone in the throat during a game. I guess you can say he knows his role.

Tibs has done well with big guys and Pittman has some talent and is young.

He has not been in the league a long time so his league min is cheaper than other players league mins (Bulls save some money).

That is about all I got.

harrington signed with the wizards

jaimson is still a FA but i dont think he wants to come here due to lack of playtime

Actually i think Jamison wont come to the Bulls because his careers winding down and so is his chances at getting a ring.
Why would he want to give the rest of his (almost over) career to the Bulls?
He wont get a ring here with the draftpicks and dunleavy backing him up, plus having a cheap tightwad boss thats not serious about winning titles dont sound too appealing either i can imagine.

Jamison will sign with a contender.

Paxsons thrifty salvaging eyes are set on pittman instead.

Jamison is waiting on the Clippers. The Clippers are waiting on Odom. If Odom signs with the Clippers, then Jamison will have nowhere to go, but the Bulls. At least according to the reports of team interest coming down the rumor-mill.
