Bulls, Magic among many who want Jamal Crawford
Kurt Henlin, NBCSports.com
Dec. 7th, 2011 10:09am ET

The Chicago Bulls need a two guard who can create his own shot to really round out their team (and take some pressure off Derrick Rose).

They may be close to landing the best two guard on the market right now — Jamal Crawford.

The Hawks spark plug off the bench is a free agent and has drawn interest from a lot of teams — the Nets, Hornets, Heat, Lakers, Mavs, Suns, Magic and Blazers — but the Bulls may be the most intriguing offer, reports CSNChicago.com.

They pass along a tweet from Steve Kyler of Hoopsworld saying Chicago is trying to do a sign-and-trade based around Ronnie Brewer. The Bulls are going to have to give up more than that but as CSN points out the fit is good.

"A couple of things that Crawford brings to the table is his ability to create his own shot and he’s capable of knocking down a few three pointers a game. Those are both two key areas that the Bulls struggled at least season from the two-guard position."

Also from Hoopsworld, Alex Kennedy tweets the Magic want to get in on the sign-and-trade for Crawford deal. If course they do, although we’re not sure Crawford would be enough to convince Dwight Howard to stay. Not really sure that J.J. Redick is enough to get a deal done.

Everyone seems to agree that if Crawford is signed as a straight free agent the Hornets are the front runners, although how a Chris Paul trade impacts that remains to be seen.

I had a feeling that could happen......knew we wouldn't wanna part with Brewer & Asik...prolly a smart move considering Asik is held with high regard by the organization.

Crawford should get paid now...the Bulls don't have the cap room.

I'm amazed that he doesn't jump up to go to the Knicks again. D'Antoni + Crawford, they are cut from the same cloth.

I wonder who the unnamed player is?

Jamal Crawford has a long list of teams hoping to sign him, but his preference would be a sign-and-trade to the Chicago Bulls, according to sources close to the situation. The Bulls have been in contact with Crawford’s camp in recent days and will try to acquire him by offering the Atlanta Hawks a package that includes Ronnie Brewer and one unnamed player. If Chicago can’t land Crawford, the veteran will likely sign with the New Orleans Hornets, Indiana Pacers, New Jersey Nets or Minnesota Timberwolves.

If the unnamed player is named Omer, I'm OK with that.

It's Asik (more than likely). I saw his name brought up with Ronnie Brewer's as far as the Crawford S&T situation goes.

Consistent, trustworthy leaks over the past two seasons that Crawford's overwhelmingly eager to win a championship pushes me toward the fence of buying such a deal. But if Taj or Omer are demanded in the package, pretty sure the Bulls would be smartest to pass -- and we should expect they will. Also, neither Taj nor Omer make enough for a trade to be legal under the salary cap rules. The only package I can really see working out with the dollars is Korver or C.J. Watson in the package with Brewer; under which case, the Bulls begin shopping for another guard to come off the bench.

GOOD

Im starting to think its going to be Brewer and CJ ... hence the reason we have been talking to TJ Ford!

I think Jamal Crawford is being a little overrated by the sports media. Along with Arron Afflalo. I wouldn't trade for a streak shooter.

Crawford and Brewer would be ideal IMO for the Bulls 2 guard.
