They got their beanies handed to them and by who, by who?

The Denver Nuggets?

Sheesh.

That's what you get when you think you can turn water into wine with Johnnie Salmons.

I don't quite understand what you mean...The Nuggets are one of the top teams in the league. And they have a legitimate franchise player...who may be the most versatile scorer in basketball in Carmelo Anthony. They went to the conference finals last year...having Salmons or not would not have made a differnce. The Nuggets are a better team.

Most likely it's just my problem with the team name.

The Nuggets...see, when I hear "Nuggets" I picture myself standing in line at Mickie D's ordering some chicken nuggets. I just can't take them seriously with that name (I never have that problem on here of course).

You're right though - it doesn't matter what a team is called - what matters is how they play.

I just wish they would change their name. Like how Utah shouldn't allowed to be the Jazz and how New Orleans should become the Jazz again.

What would be a better team name than the Nuggets?

The Bulls greatest need is a all star caliber 2010 free agent.

The Bulls do not have enough cap space to sign two Max players & if Salmons opts in, we won't even have enough to offer a max contract to 1 player.

I'm coming to the realization as the season progresses that most, if not all, of the top tier FA's will not be relocating. Lebron is up in the air, because the Cavs are not built to last but I don't see him leaving anyways. Wade will stay in Miami. I don't see Joe Johnson leaving either. About the only player I'm certain will relocate is Boozer, because the Jazz fans hate him & they already spent a bunch of money on Milsap to take over his spot. And look for him to end up in Miami, playing next to Wade.

It's very possible that we'll be looking at a repeat of the amazing 2000 spending spree. Let's just hope it nets us better players than Ron Mercer & Brad Miller.

I don't understand why I keep hearing that the Bulls can't sign a free agent if Salmons ops in. Why not? If the salary cap goes down it would be around 54million. With Salmons and Tyrus Thomas both on squad next year the Bulls are looking at 37.6million (hoopshype.com), that's 17million for a free agent. If we don't sign Thomas, like everyone is expecting, then that leaves us at 30million with a cap of 54 million leaving 24 million, isn't the max a 20million dollar salary?

Am I missing something else? Maybe that doesn't give us much room to sign scrubs like Jennaro Pargo or fill the roster but aren't there other ways of adding scrubs to the lineup over the cap? Like a mid level exemption or something similar?

You figure is correct, but you're forgetting a couple of things.

Firstly we have a draft pick. Assuming we get the 16th pick again, that's about another 1.7 million. After that we need to add enough spots to fill up the roster at league minimum (ie they're counted against us for cap purposes). With only 8 on the roster (Rose/Noah/Kirk/Deng/Gibson/Johnson/Salmons/Rookie), we need to fill to 12 players with minimum salary, so add in another ~2 million for that.

So we'd have 41+ million in cap space commited with Salmons opting in. Nowhere near enough for a max free agent unless the cap lands a lot higher than 54 million.
