Source: Chicago Bulls not discussing Lebron James-John Calipari package deal - ESPN

A source with direct knowledge of the Chicago Bulls front office says the team believes it has the right players in place -- namely, Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and Luol Deng -- to surround LeBron James when it makes its case with the free agent to-be on July 1.

But the source said there has been no discussion of bringing Kentucky coach John Calipari in with James as part of a package deal.

The Chicago Tribune reported Monday that according to league sources, basketball power broker William Wesley -- a friend of both James and Calipari -- has been quietly contacting NBA teams that have coaching vacancies and salary cap space about the possibility of bringing in James and Calipari as a package deal.

But the Bulls source said that at no point has there been discussion about packaging Calipari to get James to come to Chicago. The source also said that bringing Calipari only along to get James would lessen Calipari's status in the locker room as the coach who is only there because of James.

Another league source said another person, described as an "unknown Calipari connection," contacted the Bulls over the weekend, according to the Tribune report.

However, ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard reported Monday on "SportsCenter" that according to his sources, James is not demanding Calipari coach him on whichever team he plays for next season.

And a source close to Wesley told ESPN.com's Andy Katz that Wesley had not contacted the Bulls or any other team about a James/Calipari package deal.

Calipari has publicly stated that he is coaching at Kentucky next season.

NBA teams cannot formally contact free agents until the league signing period starts July 1.

Bulls cannot discuss this rumor. If Bulls wanted to make it public, they would. Until then its all speculation.

I knew that played into him putting that up, I just don't see him making the jump. And to be honest, even though he's a good coach, idk how much I would want him.

He is the basketball version of Lane Kiffen, if he bails on Kentucky for Chicago.

I dont want him but if it means getting LeBron, i'll take any coach...even Vinny. Coaching only goes so far in the NBA. Talent will ultimately get you over the hump.

Also the Lane Kiffen thing is exactly why i dont believe Cal

Coaching didnt help the Cavs but they just didnt have the same amount of talent to compete with teams like Boston or Orlando. Behind every great coach us usally a great player or two. Vinny cant coach worth a damn but we made the playoffs two years in a row because
1)The East is top heavy, followed by garbage
2)Rose and Noah

Players ultimately will make the difference in the NBA.
