From what I've been able to dig up, he has a fixed buy out...

KC also noted that rumor has it that Jimmy Butler blew up Marshon Brooks in their workout, dominating him in their workout physically. Marshon Brooks had a lousy workout with Chicago, and the Bulls never had him on their radar. He looked soft and not ready to play at this level.

By saying the Bulls aren't interested in Ellis, the Bulls mean he costs too much in actually acquiring. I still want Deng traded.

Thanks, now I understand the trade/pick at 23. On paper, Marshon looked like the answer for us at 2-guard. He would have fit in perfectly with his size and cheap labor at SG:

C - Joakim Noah $12M
PF - Carlos Boozer $13.5M
SF - Luol Deng $12.3M
SG - Marshon Brooks $1.2 M
PG - Derrick Rose $9 M

With four guys over or near the $10M a year mark in salary, getting a cheap shooting guard for the next 3-4 years would have been ideal. As it stands now, Ronnie Brewer is slated to make $4.7M next season. If we go the FA market to land a shooting guard, he would probably cost more than Brewer.

Meaning we would have Brewer and Korver's ~$5M contracts coming off the bench, and another $5M+ guy starting. We would be waaaaay over the salary cap. The only realistic solution is to hope and pray Jimmy Butler develops a shot so that we can play him at SG instead of purely backing up Luol at 3.

The Bulls don't think dude can play ball, and Butler probably shut him down one on one. I wouldn't doubt it. Its hard to believe a late round draft pick in a very bad draft will contribute anything...the Bulls did the right thing...

Marquette players have the mental toughness to play in the NBA, and they are versatile like Georgetown players. That helps them help teams in major ways with also playing in the underdog role like the current Bulls players thrive in playing in. Playing in the Big East conference is the a grind game in and game out like most NBA games are. Butler did well on both ends of the court. His transition to the NBA won't be bad, he will just have to get used to playing in 82 games. His coach was demanding similar to Thibs, so he really will fit right in with this team, even as a rookie. I'm not shocked he got Brooks, he put it to him in the Big East tournament.

I'm in the minority it seems, but from what I've seen from Butler it looks like Thibs can turn him into a real player on the next level. I'm pretty excited to see the guy play in summer league.

The thing about Jimmy Butler that I like is he's got the whole package. Effort and attitude wise he's top notch. The knock on him is that he's not a great athlete..

At the NBA combine, Jimmy Butler posted a 39" vertical leap, which was in the top five of all the guys tested. Jumping and quickness are two measures of athleticism. He's got the jumping down pat. He's not just an effort guy, this guy has some tools to work with. If we can refine his shooting, he could pan out into a pretty solid wing player.

i would have loved to see him play in the summer league too, but it was canceled this year.
