"Sources" amount to a writer finding someone to agree with what he wants to write. It doesn't say Bulls sources or sources within the Bulls organization. I can believe the Bulls aren't calling teams to see what they can get but they aren't hanging up the phone when someone calls. Unlike internet GMs Forman knows this is not the time of the season to get max value from any team interested in Deng. He's got to wait until closer to the deadline, when there are more injuries, teams know some of their injured players won't return or if they are in need of a player to make a run and are willing to pay the Bulls price to get an All star forward. Now is when teams see the Bulls suffering injuries and think they're dumb enough to tank and hold a fire sale and they can get guys cheap.

This Bulls FO puts too high a value on their players.

The sad reality is that they are going no where this year.
I am in strong favor of trading Deng and, using the amnesty provision on Boozer.

Couple that with the return of Rose, a potential high lottery pick, a potential 11 or > Charlotte pick and the start of Nikola Mirotic as a Bull, the Bulls could look much better next year.

Unfortunately, i doubt Gar Pax will grow any stones before the trade deadline.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. DePaul Blue Demons
Deng is injured right now. So the Bulls have almost no leverage and trading him right now would be selling low. The Bulls probably leaked this story themselves to improve their bargaining position. Never been a big fan of Garpax (neither would have a job anymore had they not 'won' the draft lottery for the 2008 draft) but I have a difficult time believing that they think resigning Deng is a good idea for this team's future.

I think it's just smoke. I hate GarPax just as much as everyone besides sp94, but I don't think they will bring Deng back. I'm going to guess that we will continue to suck and that he will get dealt right around the trade deadline.

Seeing that Brook Lopez broke his foot and will be out for an extended period. The Nets already were having a bad season with an overpaid roster and it got worse. That brings up another factor in the timing of trading Deng, at this point how many disappointing teams are there in the East that might be looking to unload some players and cut salary, look to the draft and wait until next year. Or maybe the players other teams want to unload don't have the expiring contract or are farther on the downside of their careers than Deng.
