That's right, when I brought this up last April the Magic fans laughed at the idea of Dwight Howard being traded. Now that a formal demand has been made, the Bulls have the most enticing pieces to offer Orlando. Question is, does GarPax have the balls to go all-in, or just sit back and play it safe?
Here is what the competing teams have to offer:
Brooklyn Nets: Brook Lopez, two 1st Rd picks, maybe throw in Mr. Kardashian
Dallas Mavericks: Roddy Beaubois, JJ Barea, future 1st Rd picks
LA Lakers: Andrew Bynum
Nothing too exciting there right? Considering the Utah Jazz brought back the Brinks truck (Derrick Favors, Enes Kanter, Devin Harris) in return for Deron Williams, no way Orlando makes any of those above trades.
So here is where GarPax should jump in. The Bulls have plenty of young, promising talent, plus a superstar PG that would entice D.Howard to sign long-term. Plus, Chicago is a big market. Pick up the phone, call the Magic front office, and make the following offers:
Offer (A) : Carlos Boozer + Omer Asik + Nikola Mirotic +2012 1st Rd Pick
Offer (B) : Joakim Noah + Taj Gibson + Nikola Mirotic + 2012 1st Rd pick
We will also take back the salary of Hedo Turkoglu if necessary, but the bottom line is we can offer the Magic cheap young talent, plus a solid veteran under a long-term contract.
The key to the trade offer is Mirotic. The Bulls swung for the fences by taking a potential lottery talent. Now armed with that ammunition, we can offer the Magic a chance to rebuild with young players. How many other teams can offer the Magic a lottery pick, plus another young player like Gibson or Asik?
C'mon GarPax, pick up the phone and bring D12 to Chicago to play with Derrick. Thoughts?
