Derrick Byars was drafted 42nd overall in 2007 by Portland, was cut, and too a job in Germany to kick off his pro career where he was ALBA Berlins best player after a season. An explosive shooting guard who loves to go to the basket. He is also a D-League all-star.
Jerel McNeal is from Chicago, he was cut by the Clippers last season, and he is making steady improvements. He is a combo guard, has poor speed, but good handling abilities, and plays solid defense for a SL prospect.
John Lucas III makes his own offense, and is a lights out spot up shooter. His NBA dreams are a long shot, but he has the ability to play in the NBA with his quickness. He needs to work on picks and positioning to fit into an NBA offense, he is mismatched at 5'11, with weak NBA passing skills.
James Johnson is being reported at 20lbs lighter than his peak weight in 09-10. Apparently he has gotten into good shape, and we should expect a nice return from JJ.
Matt Bouldin is a solid combo guard who can do everything at the NBA level, minus the speed. He has potential to get a roster invite.
Joe Alexander has been working on his conditioning post hamstring injury and supposedly he is showing flashes of his athleticism in practice, and could also earn a spot on the roster. If he plays recklessly, he might be an early cut. Although his speed and size might be enticing to Coach Thib.
Morris Almond is an undersized forward who plays solid defense. It will be interesting to see if he can step up his game, and show little man-big heart in SL.
Jack McClinton is a solid guard with all of the right skills to make it to an NBA roster. He is very weak with his left side and needs to improve his footwork on defense to actually make the cut.
Samardo Samuels has an NBA sized body, but needs to work on his stamina. He is a Big Baby type player who could very likely get signed onto this Roster.
Chris Richard, I haven't heard any new developments with Chris. He has made strides in each year. He may be resigned by default due to him having rare size and experience.
Trent Plaisted is a sloppy offensive player, but he positions himself very well, and he can cover a lot of area in the paint. He's a real wild card, but he puts the effort in.
A.J. Ogilvy is one ugly player, but he gets the job done. Consider him an upgraded version of Aaron Gray at this point of his career. He shows better off the ball positioning on defense but poorer positioning on offense. He is destined for D-League unless he can work on his hip motions and overall quickness in traffic.
