A day after Luol Deng addressed his name being involved in a trade: “If it’s not true, a GM could always come out and say it’s not true. But if a GM doesn’t come out and say it, there are probably talks.”, the Bulls have taken his advice and told him that he will not be traded to the Golden State Warriors, despite the rumors. According to Yahoo! Sports, the Bulls have privately told Deng that there is “no chance” of the team trading him for the 7th pick in the draft.
As many have noted, the Warriors are over the cap, and if pursuing Luol Deng and his salary, would have to dump a high salary player (Biderins,Wright, and/or Jefferson) on the Bulls in return. Deng, an All-Star, is too valuable a player, “the glue” as Tom Thibodeau refers him, to the Bulls for a trade of such nature.
Although Deng’s agent reports that ”The Bulls have indicated to me that they do not plan to trade Luol”, anything can happen and the most intriguing situation that remains is that with the Sacramento Kings. However, talks have not advanced and there are reports now that Sacramento (5th pick) may be interested in Andre Iguodala. If nothing materializes, Luol Deng will enter his 9th season as a Chicago Bull.
